Hello all!

Congratulations Vicky! A little belated but I hope you are wonderful!

Nigel, I am here babe. Hanging around. I dont get online much anymore period. If I could just sit down and talk to you guys about the ####### I have been through in the last month you'd never believe me. I am busting out to talk to someone. I cant do it with my family.

Long story short, my husband has finally admitted he is an alcoholic. It took him really hitting rock bottom (which happened Oct. 12th) for him to admit it. I have known for years but I couldnt make him realize it or seek help to get better. Bottom line is he drove drunk, had a minor accident with another person's car (no one was injured) and he got arrested for it. I was totally devastated. I was angry. I still am. I am trying not to hold it against him but it so hard. This has cost us financially so much. More than that, his trial has been continued so he hasnt gotten convicted yet but it is coming, probably around February. The attorney is adamant he will not go to jail but will have to take classes. He is starting those next weekend. He has to attend 15 classes at $50/class. Let me tell you how expensive that is to us. Not only that he could have killed himself or someone else. I was disgusted with him for a long time. I am finally trying to see his side of it. Our lives have been utter hell. If someone would have told me when we moved over here that this would have happened, I would have said you are crazy.

I dont mean to air my dirty laundry in public here...I surely dont mean to bring anyone down. I just needed to tell someone. I cant talk to my family about this. I really appreciate any support I can get. I am torn between wanting to divorce him and get on with my life and trying to fix everything that is wrong.

If anyone has lost anyone to a drunk driver on here I sincerely apologize and I hope I am not offending anyone.

Nigel, I hope you are doing well. I hope things are better with you. Drop me a line. I could use some cheering up.

I have only just "moved" on here so have never had the opportunity to chat to you while you were waiting for your case to be complete but i do remember you as I used to pop in here from time to time, practising I think for when I knew we would be in here ;)

Have often wondered how you were doing as you were such a long time waiting for the approval and I am therefore so sad to read your post. I have never been close to an alcoholic but I have known one and in a way I can understand what you are going through and I feel for you.

I cannot really offer you any advice Misty and I understand completely your need to get things off your chest, if you cannot talk to your family is there a church leader you could talk to or someone from AA?

I am also sure that as soon as Bailey and Nigel see your post they will be in touch with you, they are both a wonderful source of support and both will be unhappy to see that things are not good.

Misty, I hope and pray that things work out for you and that it will not be to long before you see that light at the end of the tunnel, your hubby,as you say will have to take lessons and I hope that he realises the enormity of what he has done and what he is doing to you. Only you can decide which way you will go and whichever way you choose, I hope it is the best for you.

my thoughts are with you Misty, keep your chin up

gets awfully lonely in here now but really that is quite good because so many who were here before have now gone on to bigger and better things

to all who are waiting for a waiver approved, no matter where you are, I hope that things move quickly for you.

I am not really moving on to bigger and better but definitely more quieter. I need my freedom. I hate to use that word in regards to the end of a relationship as it was used by someone else that left me years ago. It sucks. Our relationship is not getting any better. He snapped at me today for no reason at all. I am tired of his BS. However the divorce requirement here in NC states that we need to be separated for one year. It's technically only been 4 months. I am unfortunately, named on the lease to the apartment and we have a joint account which will make it even harder to get a divorce. He has no idea I am even thinking of doing it. He says he loves me but I dont feel the same. Our relationship deteriorated after we got married. We have been married for almost 8 years. Most of it has been bad. It is time to move on.

I need to know if anyone has any advice, how this will affect his app for citizenship in a few years, how the DWI will affect all of it, and how the affadavit of support will work as well. Am I still responsible for him? He has been working since February. Please let me know if you got the answers. I'd appreciate it! I'd hate to call USCIS as they know nothing and I'd hate to shell out money for an immi attorney.

What's happening Nigel??? I havent heard from you in a while.

Hi everybody,

just checking in to see how things are going for all of you. :)

MistyB,

Dang, I'm so sorry to hear about your troubles :( 8 years is a long time, but at least you tried to make things work. It really sucks that you now have to deal with this.... biiig hug to you, I hope everything works out for you the way you want it to.

Vicky,

hallooo... hehe, what are you doing :P I bet you are smiling from ear to ear right now.

As for me, I've been here for about 1 month and... 2-3 weeks now, things are moving along as I'm trying to adapt. I got my drivers license and have been looking for a job, no luck so far but with the Christmas craze coming up, I'm thinking that I might have a shot somewhere, even if it's just for that month :P

I got everything by now, my SSN and my Green Card. Ofcourse my Green card had to be corrected, it said CR-1 and was conditional, when it should really have been IR-1 because we had been married for over 2 yrs the day I got my Visa. So, I'm not done yet, I have sent it back and hoping that I sent it to the right place and that they'll correct it, we'll see... I'll keep you all posted :) keep your fingers crossed for me, that I sent it in and had the correct forms and stuff, you guys know how it is with immigration and paperwork

Munchkins,

are you guys on the list yet? I'm hoping for a speedy approval for you guys

.... everyone else, hope everything is great :luv:

Hi Beetee, good to hear from you, yes we are on the list and have been since the 7th November. London are really turning them out at the moment, well more than what they were doing while all you guys were going through it. Some of the cases even went from pending straight onto the complete list, so there is hope for all of us on there at the moment.

Hopefully now it is winter and not as many immigration cases going through, it might help the waiver department sail through the ones they have  One can always hope

Will someone please, please smack my wrists  I KNOW that the London waiver site is only updated every Friday, so why the hell do I keep on checking it everyday, this is worse than addictive it is obsessive.

I thought the immigration process was stressful enough but this waiting for the waiver is ten times worse

Would somebody be good enough to PULL THE PLUG ON MY COMPUTER :lol:

Hi there, good to see that Chris has arrived safe and sound Vicky, you don't have to tell me about the waking up part, I am usually sat on my daughters garden bench around 5.00 every morning having coffee. Just smelling the air makes me feel wonderful.

Beetee, they always seem to update on Friday, I know the week after we had the interview they were updating every few days and then they stopped ;) typical that for me ;) anyway I will continue to check every week  (night, morning, day  )

We have been so lucky with the people who are buying our house, because of what has happened they have agreed to delay the signing until th 5th January, which is such a load of our minds , we can stay in our house until after the holidays. if we have still not heard by then, we will just put the furniture in storage and buzz of to Teneriffe for a couple of weeks holiday and hope that the letter will be through by then, if not, we will just have to go on holiday for another week or so ;)

HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY

  • 2 weeks later...

Well so much for the "they always update on Fridays  They missed the Friday of Thanksgiving week and updated on the 28th and then they missed last Friday ;) so now I am back to checking every darn day. It's been 4 weeks this week and already it is really getting to me.

We so wanted to be able to spend Christmas with our US grandkids, it would have been our very first one in 14 years, never been able to make it out in December due to it being our busiest time when we had our own business and now that we are at the end or nearly the end of the process we were praying that it would be this year but no such luck.

I know it has been said in this section so many times but why does it take them so long to adjudicate these waivers, sometimes there are none completed in a week, it never fails to amaze me, so we continue the wait.

Sorry for the moan after only 4 weeks in here but it'll soon be Christmas and we have to spend it here again :crying:
