We have applied for the K1 visa and my fiancee is an Egyptian citizen. In 1997 he lived in Kuwait for 7 months doing law work. Does anybody know if he needs a police check from Kuwait and how we go about getting one? Any advice we would appreciate, thank you very much.

well i was looking for answer to your question and i think yeah he has to get a police certificate from Kuwait cause the USA embassy says Police certificate from all places where you have lived since age 16

and i think they ask for that if he lived in another country for more than six months

and about how to get that certificate i think he has to ask about that at the Kuwait embassy in Cairo

good luck and my best wishes for ya

Not sure if I know that answer, but my husband too is Egyptian, living in Kuwait. We married through Egypt, but when our marriage papers came he took them to Kuwait Embassy to have them signed. So not sure about the whole process, but I can ask my husband. Good luck to you and your husband's visa.

Police Records

Police records are available for persons resident in Kuwait. Individuals must be physically present in Kuwait and either be Kuwaiti citizens or hold a valid residence visa to apply for a police certificate. Police records are not available for periods of residence prior to May 1991, due to the destruction of these records during Iraq's invasion of Kuwait. Information on criminal activity, including police records, is not available from Kuwaiti embassies abroad. To obtain a police record, individuals must apply in person and provide fingerprints at the Ministry of Interior, General Department for Criminal Investigation. Police certificates generally take seven to ten days to process.

The key piece of information for you to provide the consulate is that police reccords for people who are no longer resident of Kuwait are NOT available.
