An ad for young people or an old person's idea of an ad for young people?

I'm reminded of that Mr. Show sketch where the parents put on board shorts and Vans and toss around a beach ball impersonating teens in a show called something like, "Just Rappin!" They say things like, "I'm going to get my hair cut so that people can see my pretty face!" and, "I'm going to get a job because the gas tank doesn't fill itself!" I think today they'd add, "And I'm going to vote for Hillary because she'll keep college affordable!"

I'm at a loss as to what the hell that was about. College? Really? What a waste of money! Her campaigners would have done better to sponsor two kids through college than pay for that.

Ok, I'm not a college student, but I graduated only three years ago, and for me, the ad pretty much worked. Except, I would say, for the line "the blogs were going crazy." That came off as a little 'old person's idea' for me. I felt there was enough of a self-depracating element there -- Hilary isn't implying she's cool, but suggesting the reason the ad is funny is because she's so UNcool -- that it worked.

That was about the most ridiculous political ad I've ever seen.....

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

PS I would say the ad worked in the same way Hillary critiquing her own past bad outfits in US magazine worked.

What's so bad about it though? Is it because there was an attempt at humor? Is it possible that there would be a different reaction if it were about a different candidate?

I just didn't get "it", it has nothing to do with Hillary. I would have had the same reaction had it been Obama or any of the other candidates.
