My husband got his intreview date :dance: July 21st!!!Im so excited and nervous.I just sent him all the copies from everything I sent and some extra chats. I had to put it in a box it was to thick for their biggest express envelope, lol. My concern is that if its in a box will it get treated like the rest of the boxes? There it takes a month to get a box of anything. I did mark that it was documents and papers and no value but I didnt think to put that it was time sensitive until I got home. Anyway I just hope he gets it in the 8 days that they say here, (cost was 61.50) for express

Okay about the K-3 interview I got the list of things I need to take with me and I got my medical booked for Tuesday at 9:30am (not excited about that!) but I was wondering as far as the I-134 Affidavit of Support and all the documents (tax papers, pay stubs, etc.) did you take originals to the interview or were copies good enough? I haven't seen anything about either on the papers so I don't know. I have to get a original marriage certificate for Nikki's American passport so we can mail it all at the same time...just means a longer wait till I get my interview. Advice?

I MADE A MISTAKE! :crying:

But it probably won't matter since they may never process my claim anyway

I sent an expired version of the I-130. I started to get everything together for the K-3 Visa in November and of course I downloaded that I-130 form then in November and it of course expired before I sent it in February. Should I just do the I-130 again with the newer version and resend it with an explanation? Any advice would be welcome.

So I have my medical on Wednesday and I'm starting to get nervous about it. Something about doctors, drawing blood and x-rays just rubs me the wrong way. Hopefully, it'll be a quick process and not too painful! Haven't heard anything about needing the HPV vaccine so maybe I'll get to skip that part. Then I found out that it's going to take 6 weeks to get the stupid police certificate which means it'll be a while till I can get my interview. I'm still trying to figure out if I can pay to speed it up, which would be wonderful, however seeing as it's not a priority to them I doubt it will happen.

How are things going with everyone else?

Hope work isn't draining you too much! God only knows you need all the energy you can get your hands on when dealing with these people. Just a question...why haven't you applied for an IDD? Then you can pay your bills online and speed up the process a little bit, just my two cents. Good luck with everything!!

Question: In the process of gathering information for the interview we came across an issue!! We filled out the I-134 Affidavit of Support, got the letter from my husbands employer and the past 3 years tax returns. However, my husband being the "wonderfully organized" person that he is has somehow either lost or thrown away his pay stubs. Is there anyway of getting around this issue? The letter from his employer states the hours and salary he's earning. He doesn't start working again until July 14 so won't have a single pay stub till the end of the month. Can I go to my interview without them or will I get into trouble?

what has happened to our group? its as if we've died or something.

so maybe someone who still checks this can help me out. we filled out the i-134 for our k-3 visa and then found out that certain embassies want the i-864 instead. has anyone come across this or not?

have a good week!

Most embassies post that information on web sites. I-134 is the norm for the K-3 process. I am not sure why they would want the I-864 instead unless they are processing you as an I-130 application which does happen. I would check the embassy web site for their procedures and also check the status of your I-130 application to see if it has been completed.

I just looked at your timeline and saw that you had already completed your I-130 process and then they switched to the K-3. Often the K-3 is abandoned if the I-130 is processed first. It looks like the opposite happened to you. Double check your NVC status and make sure they haven't resumed your I-130 and are waiting for the I-864. It might also be the case that the embassy could have the option of processing your visa as I-130 since it was already in the NVC. In that case the embassy would need to have an I-864 since you didn't file one with the NVC.

I appreciate your response. I don't think they are processing my I-130 because we haven't paid the NVC fees or anything yet. We were getting ready to do so when our K-3 packet arrived from the embassy so we stopped. I emailed the embassy and asked them about the confusion because I couldn't find anything on their website so hopefully I'll get a response soon. I'll be a little ticked off if I need to ask my husband for another form because it takes just over 2 weeks for them to get here and I'm currently only waiting on my police clearance. I was going to just ignore it and go to the interview with the I-134 but I figured I should be better safe than sorry. It would suck to make the long trip for nothing!! But thanks again for the response and I'll let you know what I hear from the embassy.

I emailed my case worker as you suggested about my questions. So I asked about the fact that every website says the K-3 visa requires the I-134 but someone else was told to submit the I-864. I've asked my husband to send me both so that I can be covered either way and then today I got this response.

Dear Ms. Vernon:

K3 applicants are not subject to the I-864 (Affidavit of Support) requirements at the time of K3 application, but will be required to submit when the applicant adjusts status to a Legal Permanent Resident in the United States. Similarly, the I-134 Affidavit of Support is also not required.

Sincerely,

Immigrant Visa Section

Can you explain this to me at all? Because now I'm SERIOUSLY confused as to what I'm supposed to submit.
