Tracking Febuary Filers

Hi everyone - I'm new to this and am finding it very useful so far...

My hubby will be filing for me very soon - here is my question: we were married (secretly) last year. We're having our "fake" wedding for a few family members and friends at the end of March. If we file the I-130 ASAP, will I still be allowed to enter the States as a visitor? I know that technically, you can't enter with a pending I-130, but I hear of so many people that DO get into the U.S. after filing.

If I provide customs with a return ticket, a letter from my employer, bank account statements, phone bills, etc, do I have a good chance of getting through?? The reason why we can't have the "wedding" in Canada is because he has grandparents and a great-grandfather that aren't well enough to travel here...Also, should we just file the I-130 and hope that customs doesn't say anything and lets me through? So many questions!!!!

I have had bad customs experience, which I want to avoid...I want to do this honestly...but hopefully, QUICKLY..

As long as you can establish strong ties with your home country you should be fine. Be prepaired for a lecture on you returning home though...just smile nod and say absolutely like I did. I think its crazy that they would expect us not to see each other while the I-130 is pending. I have to go because my husband hates to fly and he's in the military and his days off are few and far in between. Just be honest, don't volunteer too much information though just stick to answering what they ask. You'd think with the recession America is going through they'd be glad for the tourism impending immigrants or not.

As of February 15, 2008, all receipting operations at USCIS Service Centers and the Chicago Lockbox are current.

guess that means we should be recieving some reciepts soon? LOL

Thank you. Actually, recipt dates matter rather than the NOA1 date. So don't worry. It is temporary thing. I have seen this during citizenship process. USCIS follows reciept dates.
