For those who have used the RFE trick

I am sitting here with my phone in my hand wanting to call and use the RFE trick, but really do not know what to say.

I know how to do it, but what should I say to the officer so that they will in fact look at my case. I only filed in December, should I hold off on this until next month?

Any advice would be helpful!!

thanks, xoxo

If you look at: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/Processtim...eviceCenter=VSC They show the oldest I-129F cases are from July 07, the immigrations officer will tell you to wait until the processing date is past your filing date before calling for info, they will not have anything for you until then.

It is calling the 800 number and selecting Request for Evidence questions, if enough people use this for questions other than RFE, then the USCIS may just shut off that option.

People be patient, USCIS did a stupid thing last year when they raised the fees, this caused a tremendous back-log of petitions filed before the rate hike, twice the number than normal. No calling them will speed up the process.

People used to think it hurried their case but there was a recent post about someone being put on hold for using the phone line too much. We all are in line and there is no cutting . Which is a good thing. I am waiting it out and I have a daugter who's husband walked out on her and 4 kids , 2 of which are disabled. I could really use him here NOW, but as with everyone I must wait and wait.

I agree that people need to be patient. But nobody is trying to "cut" or jump the queue. People just want answers. They want to know what's going on with their case. USCIS have made this process as absolutely opaque as they possibly can, and this is the consequence.

I doubt very seriously USCIS would shut the RFE dump to a live CS rep. There are at least 2 ways to get ahold of a CS rep that I know of, the RFE trick and another jumble of buttons that I've never memorized, but I'm almost positive they go to the same switchboard, and I'm pretty sure the rep doesn't know which way you've come through the system. I could be wrong, but both times I've called I never made mention of RFE and they didn't bring it up either.

@Sylvia_n_Joseph: I've never heard of a case where someone's case was held because they called too much. Do you have a source?

I disagree with the "people just want answers. They want to know what is going on with their case." They know that nothing is going on with their case cause they are in line and the people in front of them are being worked on first. Calling the RFE line is trying to cut the queue. Plain and simple.

And, yes, I agree......as soon as they figure out it is being abused, they will cut it out completely.

This process takes time. Please be patient.

I called the RFE line and I wasn't trying to cut the queue.

You and I both know how this process works. There are many who don't. There is no malicious intent going on here.

Wow, that's amazing. First time I've heard of such a thing. But this sounds like an extreme case. OTOH I have to agree with the OP in that thread--USCIS need to publish the threshold they use to put a case on "hold" for calling too much. (I'm still not 100% convinced that they really did put his case on hold for calling too much. I doubt the people answering phones have that much power. It could be a scare tactic to keep him from calling again. I wouldn't put it past them.)

Just to be clear, I'm not advocating that people call every day, or even at all. I'm just saying that I understand *why* people want to call, and it's not because they want to hop the queue. USCIS makes this process so opaque and unfriendly that it drives even the most patient of us crazy.
