Hello all,

This may only apply to Canadian applicants:

Well, my application is on hold again since the NVC has decided two weeks ago to make up a new rule: applicants have to also submit passport photos with their package 3 in order to get it processed!!! (Didn't I send several photos to USCIS already? Where did they all go?)...

Anyhow, if you haven't sent in your pkg 3, call the NVC and make sure this rule applies to you. Note for those who've already sent it in and a decision hasn't been made... You probably need a barcoded sheet to send with your photos - KEEP COPIES HANDY!!! I didn't keep a copy and now I'm waiting 2+ weeks for them to send me my bar code. The snail trudges along...

Take care everyone, and pray for our speedy interview.

Ciao.

I received a notice on Saterday asking for pictures for my wife. Interesting to hear that they changed the requirements. I thought that I just missed the photo requirement somehow in their online directions.

This is a new requirement that NVC has for all applicants since 1/29/08 that no-one seems to have been aware of until a RFE is sent out. Good looking out :thumbs:

Our missing document checklist said the following:

Please provide two identical front-view color photographs with a white background as required for each visa applicant.

The photos must have the name of the person in the photo printed on the back, along with the case number associated with the person's photo.

Im from the Philippines and we were also required to submit passport pictures, which they did not indicate on package 3. After which, they will send you an RFE informing you of this new requirement.

Suggestion: If you do not get any letter from the NVC within 2 weeks, call right away and inquire about your case status. The operator will tell you what missing doc, or incomplete/wrong filing in the DS-230.

I guess this new requirement applies to all...

hi Jigi

I still ahve to cross the first hurdle i.e. get my I130 approved. I'm traveling to india to meet up with my wife and spend some time.assume hypothetically if my case is approved, and I go the I130 route, I had a few questions:

1.I saw the post on NVC form DS230 submission, it points me to this http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html

2. as per this they require even police clearance certificate, birth certificates,

3. marriage certificates

and bunch of other documents

the confusion is around the wording that they require originals, now thats a concern considering the randomness of their ability to loose mail and applications, would notarized copies suffice in this case?

what did you do in your case if you can share your experiences, i would really appreciate it.

thanks

M

thanks so much for the info! i got an RFE for my DS-230 because i hadn't submitted all of my spouse's civil documents back in december. i finally have everything collected and am about to send it off. man i'm soooo glad i found out about the passport pics before i sent it!

but i do have one question: it says that we have to write the case number on the upper right hand corner of ALL documents.... does this mean we have to write the case number on the original birth certificate and original marriage certificate as well? it just doesn't feel right to write on my spouse's 30 year old birth certificate...

what did you all do?
