Semi-Urgent Question

The VJ guide says "a Copy of NOA2", but I never made a copy.

How inadvisable is it to just send the original? If something were to happen to the original, how easily is it replaced?

I need to mail this stuff early in the morning before going to work and I'm not 100% certain I will get a chance to make a copy before then. So I'm inclined to just send it along. But I'm pretty sure that the 'real' NOA2 is required for AOS, isn't it? Or...something?

That being said, if I send her the original, and she uses that at the embassy stage...will she get it back? Or do they just take it from her, hence the need for a copy? Or, if something dumb happens and she misplaces it, can we get a new one?

I need to weigh my options now to know what I need to do. Thank you.

You don't say where you are planning on sending it or for what reason. I have my K1 and have now arrived in the US and we haven't needed the NOA2 yet for anything - the original is required for AOS.

If you let us know why you are planning on sending it somewhere I might be able to be a bit more specific with my advice.

Stop off at kinkos or staples and make a copy. You will need your NOA2 for AOS, so I would NOT send the original. These places open early, like 7 am. So don't send without making a copy.

When you go to the interview at the Embassy you take all the original documents and ONE copy of each.

They check the originals, give them back to you and keep the copies. If you don't take copies they keep the originals so take copies.
