Question about US Int Section in Havana

Dear Friends,

I am inquiring for a friend. She applied to bring her fiance who lives in Camaguey. The application was approved and sent to Havana at least 5 months ago. Since then, they haven't heard anything. It used to be (a few years ago at least) that it took a long time for people who live far from Havana to receive anything. But this seems too long. It would be nearly impossible for her to sit home for a day or two trying to call USINT Havana. (She works full-time and is a single mother to 2 small kids...). Any suggestions or thoughts on what the options might be?

Gracias,

2NS

That waiting seems awfully long. Also, they do not usually contact you unless you do so. I know it does not have anything to do with Camaguey being far.You can try calling; but it's usually better to fax an inquiry to the US Interests Section : 53-7-833-1084 with all pertinent info. They will contact you.

My fiance lives in camaguey too, and i was told from the U.S. interest section in havana that they would not mail to Camaguey. Therefore, I had to call them and set up a appointment to pick up the package. Sending a fax is a good idea too. Have you try contact the U.S interest section?

Thanks for the good ideas. Can someone pick up the package for him or does he have to go himself?

Unfortunately he has to go because they are strict on allowing people to enter the interest section.

Thanks for the good ideas. Can someone pick up the package for him or does he have to go himself?

Hi i am new at vj . I am trying to bring my fiance to the US from Cuba. I think that your friend should call this number from the US. I tried with the one on the website of the US interest office and it was imposible. The number is 011537 833 3551. You have to include the numbers in the front if you are calling from the Us. The lady won't tell you her name but she can verify if the case is in La Havana. She should give you a date for your friend's girlfriend to pick up the package. She will have to go in person because they will do security check. Not everybody can enter into the building. She needs her carnet de identidad (photo id). She need to be there before 7 am and wait for her name to be called. There they will give her a package. I can't tell you what is on the package because i am waiting for my fiance to pick it up. Good luck to your friend. Good luck to all who are on the same boat.
