Hello everyone,

We're far from being done with this whole process, but I was looking ahead and I saw that she will need police certificates for countries she lived in for more than 6 months... or a year? or whatever it was. She lived in the U.S. for over a year, but I don't know how to obtain a police certificate. Can someone tell me how?

Thanks

Aaron

There is NO certificate from the USA, the name checking done by USCIS, NVC, and Consulate handles this for you.

Well after some further reading I found this on the travel.state.gov website...

Police certificates are required for each visa applicant aged 16 years or older. The table below shows how many police certificates are required based on where each applicant lives and has lived previously. Present and former residents of the United States should NOT obtain any police certificates covering their residence in the U.S.

So it seems we don't need to get one for her residence here.

Thanks YuAndDan, it seems you answered me as I answered myself. What a great website this is.

Just go the police station of the county where she lived and request Certificate of Non Criminal Record. You must get an authorization from her along with copy of her passport and VISA.

Good Luck!!

Again USA is one of the countries that a police cert is not required from.
