Like most of you, I go to the uscis site and log in to see if my date has changed in the last updated window. For over four months

nothing changed. Yesterday however, I was elated because to see that I had a new date placed in that box it changed to 02/08/08. Then I switched over to the site that you put the receipt number in and was sooooooo bummed to read that it did not say "approved " as I had hoped but instead it said they needed more info and that my case would be in suspense until the info was provided. I called the uscis with the RFE trick instructions I had copied down only I was not using it as a trick, I indeed had a RFE . But the weekend was coming so I wanted at least a hint of what it might be. So I got a guy on the line, officer so and so and I told him my story and asked him to help me out and give me some hint as to what it is they wanted. He gave me nothing. Said he was only looking at a computer screen that said that I was sent and RFE but it could be anything, Can you tell me who my officer is, I asked. No, sorry I cant tell you that. You will have to wait until you receive it in the mail. Then the wonderfully ironice question... is there anything else I can do for you?... LOL Like... what have you done so far... nothing.

I have been going crazy trying to figure out what on earth they want. I buried them with proof of meeting. Pictures, plane tickets boarding passes going and coming, hotel, restraunt and store receipts. The only thing I can imagine is that I checked yes for marriage broker because my lawyer told me to. I didnt feel I really needed to since I didnt pay them a dime. I was a guest and she sent me a message of interest and they usually delete personal info but they left her skype # and I called her. So I checked yes and my lawyer said it would not be a problem because they are a German company and the USA has no juristiction over them. I was comforted to hear that it hasnt seemed to be an issue with others up till now. So who knows if that is it. I guess I will find out next week and I will let you know.

But I wonder, how long is this going to delay us. Will they deal with it as soon as I provide them the info they seek or does my file get burried at the bottom of a big stack. Any one else like to share what their experiences have been concerning

delays? How long did it take to get resolved? Has marraige brokers become an issue? I covet your prayers for sure.

Thanks,

Terry

A letter will be sent to you regarding that matter or what documents you need to submit/resubmit. Usually, applications with RFE would be a month or two/more delayed than the regular processing time.

Good luck!

It could be something as simple as clarification on a name or date.

I've seen RFE's only put people out by a couple of weeks...

Don't worry, you'll get it figured out.

Best of luck to you! :)

Yeah, a couple week delay is more likely. There are some who are delayed by a month or more, but this seems to be a rarity. If you made a copy of your packet, go through it and see if you can figure it out.

When you get the RFE, read the instructions carefully and provide EXACTLY what they need. No more, no less. Make a copy of the RFE letter and the additional evidence you submitted for your records.

Hi Daytrader,

Sorry to hear about the RFE. We got one for our AOS and it didn't delay our case one bit, most times it won't have a significant impact. What did you submit as primary evidence of meeting in person?

Primary evidence may be: Copies of all airline boarding passes, train passes, itineraries, hotel receipts, passport stamps (make sure you can read the dates on the stamps), and other documentary evidence that you have met within the last two years (another option would be bank statements showing withdrawls/ purchases abroad). Secondary or supporting (but still needed) evidence: Color Photo's of you and your fiance(e) together.

You'll likely have to wait until you get the actual letter in the mail to know what the RFE is for, but if it's for some filing error, then that's easy to fix, if it's for more evidence, then you'll be prepared :)

Saludos,

Caro

Calling the number is a complete waste of time. I don't even know why they give the option to talk to someone regarding an RFE if the person won't give out information.

Jamie76 is right. Calling them is really a waste of time (at least it is a 1-800 number!!)

But the person on the phone knows as much as you because it seems to me, that they also log on to the webpage we do.

So nothing more they can tell you than what you see on your own.

Good luck!!

OK, I finally got the RFE in the mail.

Wow it only took them a week to send it 200 miles. I could have walked there and got it sooner.

How rediculous is this: The say they have insufficient evidence of my USA citizenship. i sent them a

brand new birth certificate with a seal of authenticity and a copy if my passport signed and authenticated by a lawyer and what do you think they are asking for as proof?

You got it ... a birth certificate and a passport, which is exactly what I sent.

Actually, I am relieved that it is not anything complicated. This should be easy, just time consuming

to order another birth certificate and another signed copy of my passport. :(

This whole thing is just sooooo frustrating.

Thanks for letting me vent.

God bless each and every one of you.

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

Sometimes papers get separated from their appropriate files. You do not need new original. A regular photocopy of all pages of your passport or a photocopy of a "certified copy" of your birth certificate is sufficient. You don't even need both. Photocopies. Photocopies.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
Understanding the big picture is priceless. Anonymous
