Hello, I am an American citizen who is currentlyengaged to an Egyptian citizen. We are filling out the paperwork for aK-1 Fiance Visa and have a question regarding the required name of the fiance. Egyptian legal names can have up to four names, but the Americanpaperwork only allows for First, Middle, and Last names. His name on his passport is Nasr Mahmoud Hamed Abdelhady. How shall we write these names correctly on the form? It is very difficult to type "Mahmoud Hamed" as amiddle name on these forms. This problem reoccurs for writing his father's name on the forms as well. His Egyptian last name is different from my fiance's last name because itis my fiance's grandfather's name (which I am told is the custom there). Should we end his father's name with "Hamed" so that it appears similar to my fiance's name or should we attempt to include his full name? If we attempt to write his full name, how shall we do this using the First,Middle, and Last name spaces? We would appreciate any advice or suggestions that you might be able to provide. :help:

What we did was order the forms through USCIS and they sent them to me through the US postal service at no charge. It was easy to write all 4 names ( which must match with what is written in his passport, BTW ) when we wrote them very small.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

My husband's name has four names and a family name. We used his first and second name as the first and middle and then left out the others and put in the family name as the last name. That is what his passport shows as well. They will know his other names since they do a name search but for simplicity we decided to do this so that when he gets his license he'll only have three names.

I put my fiancee's name as it appears on his passport and national id and I also can not quite remember but there was a section on one of the forms that asked for other names this is where we put any other names he may be referenced to. His father and mother's names appeared as they did on his birth certificate. Not sure if this is right but we haven't gotten anything back regarding this being incorrect.

Well my SO only has 4 and we were lucky his 2nd and third are same so we dropped one. But if you do not fill in typing and use pen you can usually fit all in if you write small. Good Luck!!

Thank you for explaining this. We downloaded the forms from USCIS' website. It's really nice that they sent you the forms no charge. We wish you the best of luck.

Thanks for the fast reply. I am worried that if we only put three names that this will cause them some concern and the file will be flagged. When he comes to the US I think he will eventually have to go to three names too. It is much more convenient.

Thanks for the response. I really like your idea to look at his birth certificate for the proper names of his mother and father. We will definitely do that. Good luck with your application.

Thanks for the detailed response. I am worried if we type the rest of the application and only hand write his name that it might look strange. We have known each other for five years so I guess it is about time to do this paperwork. Thank you for the timeline it is helpful to know what to expect after we submit the paperwork. Good luck with everything.
