Hello All:

I am preparing all for my petition filing. I am also preparing the I-134 (I know I do not need it now, but why not?)

If anyone has interviewed recently in Kiev, please give me advice because the general FAQ are not specific to certain consulates.

I gather that what is needed is the I-134, one year's tax return (previous year, in my case it will be 2007) bank records and documentation of current employment. Is this correct or is Kiev asking for more/other things? What about information on property owned? Do I need copies of my deed, mortgage, or anything like that? I do plan to go to the interview with my fiancee.

Any recent experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Gary

Hello Gary,

I had my K1 interview in Kiev on Feb4. I think that what you have to supply your I-134 with is more than enough. In my case, I had the Affidavit, my fiance's 2006 tax return, bank statements, and some other savings docs (he's self-employed, so we didn't have any letters on salary from HR, etc.) No property, no mortages, no anything else. For me it worked perfectly fine. You've checked the poverty guidlines, right? So, if you know everythig, it seems to me you're ready to go. Just in case - don't sign and notarize the Affidavit right now, it should be dated closer to the interview. The same with your employer letter. (Actually, three days after the interview they returned me all financial support docs along with the evidence on ongoing relationships - I had to go back to pick up my passport with visa - they lost one of my 5x5 pics and I had to replace it; in return, they gave me my passport back. So, I got all the stuff I had with me for the inteview back. They only kept the Affidavit itself.)

Good luck to you guys! And let me know if I can be of more help!

Masha

Marsha:

Thank you so much for you response. I will have my 2007 tax return (which exceeds the poverty guidelines) and a letter from my current employer (I was self employed from 2000-Sept. 2007) and bank statements, check stubs, etc. and all that. No problem. I have been to Ukraine to visit my fiance 3 times since we met in September and I will be going there at least 2 more times before our interview and also will go to the interview so there is no porblem with documenting that. I kept everything from our trips, I have about 1000 emails (probably 2500 by the time of the interview if they want to see all that!) photos, phone bills, western union receipts. No one will question an ongoing relationship, of that I am sure.

I jus had a question because they ask for a statement of property and I did not know if I need to send a deed for my house, mortgages or anything else as documentation. It does not say I need to, but I am desparately afraid of going all the way to Kiev and then have them say "where is the copy of your deed?" or something else. I have run into this problem just to get a driver's license or license plates here! I call and ask what do I need? They tell me. Then, SURPRISE you need something else! And they say the person that answered the phone is "new" and did not know that. Fine, if it means a 20 minute drive home for a document and not a 14 hour plane flight and missed appointment! :)

All the people here have my mind so much at ease, really.

Thank you very much, congratulations and best of luck to you.

If you are not relying on assets for sufficiency of income then do not include it... I provided zero asset information and only income.... Kiev is a very good consulate... My wife's interview consisted of zero questions...

YMMV

Thank you FwaGuy

Good idea, I wondered about that also. I would prefer not to list all my assets, etc. And NO, I am not depending on them to qualify for the "poverty" guidelines, my income alone will do that.

And many people have said the same of the Kiev embassy. In general I have heard if all papers are in order there are few, if any, questions.

Thanks for the input.
