Delay with NVC sending info to Embassy! (repost)

I have been calling the NVC phone number to find out about my case for a while now. I received the NOA2 about 4 weeks ago and, according to the NOA2 and this site, our paperwork should've been forwarded to her consulate by now. Today when I talked to a live person at the NVC they explained that the case is under "administrative review" and due to "the events on September 11th" some cases are taking longer to review than usual. When I asked how long it would take, they told me that they were unable to provide any estimate. When I asked why the automated phone line still does not have our case she explained that it will probably never be in the automated system since "the case is not being reviewed in this office".

Has anyone had this problem before? According to everywhere I look the usual time for the NVC to process a case and forward it to the embassy is about 2 weeks... did we somehow get selected for special treatment. Anyone else had this experience?

Looking for consolation,

Db

Unfortunately some countries get a closer look than others. China and some of the mid-east countries get singled out for a more detailed look. I had a friend that married a woman from China. The security checks were a nightmare for him.

I did read a while back that the NVC can keep it a bit longer - sometimes as long as 6-8 weeks if it is put under admin review - but definately keep calling and emailing (within reason lol) until you get some satisfaction on were your case is at.

Best of luck to you and Im sure it will all go smoothly soon enough for you :D

Various Security Checks are done at all levels in the process. Not all petitions have a speedy journey through NVC. All you can do is wait as NVC is unable to give you any status of your case other then that it is under review...just as you were told, the petition is elsewhere, not at their office. Wishing you all the best.....I hope you hear something soon.

Ours apparently left the NVC on April 5, 2006 (3 weeks ago). They sent it to Montreal by accident and are suppose to forward it on to Vancouver. When I called they couldn't even answer if it has arrived or left Montreal yet.

And ours still isn't in the automatic system yet either and as you were told we don't expect it to ever be.

This whole process sure gets frustrating.
