Think i'm probably going to go home before I finally move to the US, but i kinda want to get my stamp and 'welcome' and all in the US, so I kinda don't want to fly from Dublin or Shannon. Maybe I'm just being weird.

FYI - I flew from DUB to ORD in Sept on AA and DID NOT go through immigration in DUB. I was really surprised as I was sure this would be the case. I have flown on EI and CO and had immigration before we left each time, so I'm not sure why AA didn't have it. Anyone know which airlines definitely have or do not have immigration in DUB?

Likewise I flew with AA DUB to ORD last month. AA don't use Dublin US immigration due to lack of terminal space at that time of day. Also US immigration closes around 2pm (or at least, it used to) so flights after then, you don't clear immigration in Dublin.

You may be pleased to know from next year, when the new terminal is open. You'll be able to clear US immigration & customs in Dublin.

Thanks for the info. Though I try not to make flying AA a habit :D

Well I went with Delta and went through immigration. For other info though I flew with Ryanair to Dublin from Bristol and they have a 15kg per person limit with a charge of 10 euros PER KILO for anything over... got stung for 120 euros on the way back

I'm going to guess it was in the UK forum? I'll move it back.

I think I posted in the UK forum and I posted again in the K-1 forum :) Lost complete track of where it all went now!! :D
