Hi Guys,

I know the question of "how long does it take for approval on AOS application?" has been visited times and times again on this site. Lately I heard a few horror stories about how the USCIS lost the applications, not once but twice or thrice. Talking about bad luck. This makes me jittery. I sent in my AOS application in August 2007, got my Biometrics in Oct, and received a notice stating that my case has been transferred from Chicago to California in Nov. Since then my online status has not changed. It remains as:

Current Status: This case is now pending at the office to which it was transferred.

It is coming 6 months since I filed AOS. I started to let the horror stories get to me. What if they loose my papers or something bad had happened.

I just need to air this off my chest to anyone who understands what i am going through now and has some thoughts on the above.

Thanks for reading this.

Going crazy.

Hi.

I just got an email today saying that the production of my wife's green card has been ordered. If it helps at all here is a brief timeline of our experience:

12/12/07 Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: This case has been sent to another office for processing.

1/14/08 Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: This case is now pending at the office to which it was transferred.

2/7/08 Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Card production ordered.

This last e-mail also said to allow 30 days for arrival. Hopefully it won't take that long. But it has seemed like an eternity waiting for this. Especially since when we originally sent in the 485 (at the very last minute before the fees went up) we could not find her passport. And while we had a photo-copy that she made before traveling here to the U.S., we didn't have one that showed her Visa. We wound up sending the copy we had with the Visa# written on it and a letter inserted explaining our situation. Apparently that was enough because we never heard a word about it. We have since found her passport and all is well.

Good luck to you guys!

I just want to say I understand how You feel and I hope You will get some news soon; I've been waiting 4 months already and also start going crazy. My case was transfered to California 12/15 and no touch, no info since then until 01/24...I know that is maybe not very long but when You wait, check Your status every day, you think it is lost or sth... I think if my case would reach 6 months I would call Customer Service Line(I know chances to acheive sth by that are no big but still) or make an Infopass.

well my current status is: we transfered Your case... no it is now pending in the CSC so even now when it was touched I am still worried... I know it doesn't help much but You are not alone

take care

Best advice I can give is stay on top of it. Call USCIS occasionally and even make a field office visit, if you are so inclined, to check the status. If you run into a problem down the line, having documentation for these inquires can prove invaluable. We're in the AOS nightmare and all that documentation was a huge asset when things started going to hell. Im not saying you'll have the problems we did, and I hope you dont. But just my $.02 CYA.

In any event, good luck for a speedy approval. I honestly do like to see approvals all around, even if its not ours

Our case started out fast and then we went from May to November with nothing...then out of the blue - an interview letter was in our mailbox. About 5 weeks later hubby's residency was approved.

I know people waiting 7-8 months and nothing.

Our case was never transferred either so I was like #######? I think the best thing you can do is make an infopass appointment, maybe you can find out if you're in an FBI name check or something.

Good luck.

The one thing about having your case transferred is you may be stuck in FBI Name check and you won't be approved until that clears. You could make an info pass appointment and ask them. They should be able to tell you if your stuck in name check. California will not send you anything to say your pending name check. If you don't get transferred and have an interview the IO will tell you if your name chack has cleared or not, which is kind of an advantage of having an interview.

I filed my application about 2 weeks before you, though had my biometrics about a montha fter you and i've yet to ehar of a transfer or interview.
