When I visited my Inlaws in MO at Thanksgiving last year, we had a Tornado Watch as soon as we arrived.. when we were driving from the airport, the sky turned the funky green color.. and it was eery... It was just like the last time I was in the Mid-west in '93 (Indiana) and we had tornado watches quite frequently that summer ... it was a hot summer, and the only time it rained it seemed there were twisters out there.. :P I remember driving that summer and seeing a twister off in the distance.. it was freaky deaky!

I'm strangely fascinated by them as well... the "what to do in a tornado" warning signs posted in public areas really totally suck me in!!

Timeline

Had my first encounter in Guelph in the early 80s and after that the fascination started after our backyard was ripped apart by our giant tree being uprooted and taking everything but the house with it. Today we live in Tornado ally and every spring I'm out on the roads chasing them in Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Texas. I'm not a professional, but I've been doing this for 10 years now and get to see the storm chasers all the time on the road...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...

In our case we didn't "choose" a tornado State. (Not that it would have made much difference because there are just as many tornadoes in Ontario, where I was living before I moved here.) My husband works for the Federal Government and was transferred to this State a year after we got engaged, so we really didn't have much say in the matter. But we probably won't be staying here for too much longer, because he'll get transferred again in another year or so. C'est la vie.

meh, doesn't matter which state you choose, they've all got tendencies toward some natural disaster or another. The west coast its earthquakes and fires. The middle is tornadoes. The east coast is hurricanes. The top corners on each side have horrendous snow fall in winter. Best you can do is be prepared.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!
