I love how stuff in Indiana refers to people who live there as Hoosiers.

Yeah, funny thing is that no one really knows for sure what Hoosier means.

The same system is in place for State IDs too. I'm still waiting for mine, months later.

Right... I can't figure it out from the website if they're doing some sort of thing through the SAVE system or something else. The SAVE system shouldn't take months!

All I know is that they send your details to USCIS who then verify that your details match up correctly. It'd be nice to think in a sensible world that government agencies (including the DMV) would have access to our info and could verify it there and then. But no, that would be too easy and too quick!

Can I ask, what is the importance of having a state ID to you?

Just as a back up ID, really. People are more used to seeing state IDs here, show them a GC and they look a little lost. I don't have a drivers licence yet either, so State ID was the next logical step (for me, anyway!).
