Hi all,

Just another quick question for those who applied for the Australian Police Clearance as a foreigner. I understand there are two types:

1. Name Check Application (AUD36) or

2. Finger Print Application (AUD103)

Which one should I go for?

Please advice. :help:

Cheers!

Hi,

Hopefully a person who isn't Australian will meander by and answer this specifically for you, however, my Husband is Australian, with no police record and he obtained the Name Check. Normally this will suffice. I actually emailed the Montreal Consulate to confirm that this would be ok. You might want to email his consulate just to double check.

Hmmm.. there is still no definite answer on this but a Canadian who has also lived in Australia answered me on the other thread that she played safe by getting the fingerprint check.... so I guess I'll do the same. It's gonna cost a lot more and more time consuming but hey, it's better than making a mistake, right?

Cheers!

You need the fingerprint one for london. It kind-of says it in my packet 3, and when I called and checked, they said they advise the finger-print one. I made an appointment, and had them taken at my local police station. My bank is writing me a foreign draft to pay for the certificate, and I need a photocopy of my passport. Hopefull, the whole thing will be done in about 4-5 weeks.

Yeppers... I got an email reply from the US embassy here and indeed, fingerprints are required for police checks, for countries that have the option. I just got mine done today, fingerprints for all fingers, at the police headquarters...troublesome!!

And Lisa, let's wish us both the best of luck!!! I am probably just 3-4 weeks behind you... OOooohh, so excited!

too late to be of help, but I found out the hard way that I needed the fingerprint one... got the other, and had it safe and all, before getting the letter from the Embassy saying that the one without fingerprints is invalid

I'm interested that someone was able to get the prints done at their local police station - was that here in the UK? and how long ago? I tried this first up and was told in no uncertain terms that it could only be done through New Scotland Yard for a fee of £60... egad, they take the mick, the lot of them

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.
