Well I've been looking all around the forum and didnt find any thread regarding my question so here it is:

Of what I read, most couples go together for the interview....But me and my fiance arent sure yet if he would be able to make it as he is the owner of a company and he got severals obligations so

Is it really a big of a deal to go alone at the interview??

Is there anyone who went alone and it went well?? is it better to go with your partner?

thanks anyway for your answers, comments, or suggestions

Does not matter so dont worry so much. I know someone whow ent alone in Manila, Philippines and had no problem. Just make sure you have everything they ask for and be ready to answer a few questions. him not being there will not change things

For Visa! Yes there's no problem to go alone. the majority go by themselves. but for the Green Card ur spouse has to be with you.

Good Luck!

Not necessary to be there. But it would be nice. Also, many embassys mail mail the visa/passport to your fiance' which depending on the local reliability of courier service, could take 2 days to 2 weeks. But if your fiance is there with you they will give it to you then when you tell them yall are leaving together tomorrow to the US.

June 8 they revieved it

June 18 '07 check cashed got WAC#

No NOA1, touches, or progress given

NOA2 approved Oct 17

NOA2 card copy in mail Oct 20 (Surprise to us)

Package sent from USCIS to NVC Nov 7. (called USCIS to get this)

Nov 15, I got email at 6:57pm that our package was sent to Rio from NVC.

DON"T WAIT FOR THEM TO SEND ANYTHING, CALL AND MAKE SURE THEY GOT IT.

IF THEY DO, GO AHEAD AND SEND IN ds230,ds2001, the pics, and copy of passport

USE SEDEX AND GET THE TRACKING NUMBER.

Interview Set: Jan 29. Found this out on the embassy website under VISA's. It shows a list of visa types including K1 and shows the interview dates.

Visa granted but they mailed it using their own package delivery service. Took a week. Have money when you go to the appointment. They may also make you go and get more photos taken if they dont like the pics you bring. Just relax and dress wark because they keep the place really cold. Make sure your financials mmet the criteria or they will eat you alive.

MARRIED March 22. Sent in $1,010 in fees to Chicago to get change of status, apply for advanced parole, and ability to work documentation. Things work faster now.

May 22'08: Biometrics appointment in Santa Barbara.

Hi there! answer to your question no your fiance doesn't have to be there with you but the option is there if he chooses to be!

I had my interview in Vancouver and my fiance had planned on being there with me but his father became gravily ill and we decided it would be better if he stayed with his dad just in case something were to happen, so I went to the interview alone, the Consulate officer was very nice, although i don't know what Montreal is like I'm sure you will be fine, just take a deep breathe and relax and look them straight in the eye and be honest, thats it, easy as pie!

I'll be honest I was nervous but once I got there I was fine!

I'm sure you will be as well! Good luck once you get your interview date!

My Fiance and I decided that we could afford to do one or the other, POE or Interview, together. She decided that she wanted me to be there when we crossed the border. My Fiance was in Montreal for her Interview this morning by herself and was approved in less than 5 minutes(Yay!!). From what she said there were several other fiances there on there own and no one got denied while she was there.

Your profile says that you're going to Montreal and I do have some advice that I can pass along. Our packet from the consulate said that the fee was $100. When my Fiance got there this morning she discovered that the fee had changed to $130, thankfully she had some extra US cash and it didn't affect us. If you don't have the cash they expect you to leave the consulate get it somehow and come back. It's probably worth having a little more than they ask for regardless since they appear to change the fee without notice.

I wouldn't worry about it to much. Going alone didn't appear to impact her at all.

Hope our experience helps

Best of luck Lady Noles on your interview! (F) I like a few couples here went to the interview alone. Our interview was in mid November, and I wasn't moving to the US, if successful at the interview until mid January. We decided he'd not come to the interview, and instead come at Christmas that year. The interview was easy breezy, and I was in and out in 15 min. with my visa in hand. I spent a further 5 days in Vancouver on my own, which I must admit, was lovely!

Good luck on your interview. I went alone to mine as well and it was not a problem:-). He couldn't get away from work at that time, but I certainly called him from the payphone booth right around the corner from the Consulate to let him know that I got my visa. You will be fine on your own:-).

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
