Does a biometrics schedule imply an approved I-485?

I sent my I-485 application in last week, and got an I-797C Notice of Action today. It says thast, if required, my biometrics will need to be taken at a time that the USCIS will schedule.

Does this mean that the I-485 application was successful?

09/27/05: Posted I-129F to VSC

09/30/05: Received NOA1 from VSC

10/08/05: NVC receives I-129F from VSC

11/28/05: Medical completed in Dakar

11/30/05: Interview completed in Dakar

12/01/05: Received visa in Dakar

12/22/05: Arrived in the U.S. via JFK & received temp. EAD

12/28/05: Applied for SSN

12/29/05: Applied for marriage licence

01/07/06: Got married!

01/17/06: Received SSN (still waiting for actual card)

01/18/06: Started new job

01/18/06: Applied for Maine state ID

01/26/06: Sent EAD, AOS and AP applications to Chicago lockbox

01/28/06: Received Maine state ID

02/04/06: Received NOA1 for AOS and AP, sent in wrong check for EAD :(

02/06/06: Resent EAD to Chicago lockbox

02/14/06: Received NOA1 for EAD

02/15/06: Received biometrics appointment date

03/10/06: Gave biometrics

03/24/06: AP approved via email

03/30/06: Received AP document in mail

04/12/06: Get immunization supplements

04/24/06: AOS interview (case pending, need another I-864 and FBI name check pending)

04/28/06: EAD approved via email

05/01/06: Received EAD card in mail

10/20/06: AOS approved! After almost 180 days...

10/21/06: Received AOS approval email

10/27/06: Received Welcome to America letter

10/29/06: Received Green Card in mail

No, that is just a necessary step in processing your application. In most cases, I-485 will be approved at the time of the interview.

09-02-2005 Applications for AOS, EAD, and AP received by MSC

10-21-2005 AOS fingerprint notice for 12-08-2005

11-07-2005 AP approved

12-05-2005 Infopass appt at San Jose office for interim EAD -- Refused, because it is already approved by MSC on 11-07-2005

12-07-2005 Attempt at interim EAD at San Francisco office -- no go. Back to San Jose, where CSO (chief station officer) tells they will contact MSC via email to request permission to issue interim EAD

12-08-2005 Biometrics for AOS and EAD. Having no EAD appt letter was no problem (used EAD NOA)

12-15-2005 EAD arrived in the mail

12-24-2005 Received interview letter; interview scheduled 03-01-2006

01-28-2006 Received replacement SSN card in married name (5 wks since application)

03-01-2006 AOS interview -- approved; received stamp in the passport

03-13-2006 Green card arrived in the mail

July 09, 2005 - Received NOA2

July 19, 2005 - Package 3

August 18, 2005 - Package 4 with the interview date (october 17, 2005 in Rio)

September 6, 2005 - Medical exam done

October 17, 2005 - Interview date APPROVED!!!

December 2, 2005 - Arrived in the U.S.

December 8, 2005 - MARRIED!!!

AOS

December 23, 2005 Sent completed forms for AOS

Jan 2006 - Checks cashed for AOS

Jan 06, 2006 - Received all 3 NOA's

Feb 16, 2006 - EAD and AP approved

Feb 24th, 2006 - Received AP in the mail

March 18th 2006 - Still no biometrics letter, made infopass

April 11th 2006 EAD Biometrics

April 18th 2006 Received EAD in the mail

May 10th 2006 AOS Biometrics after calling 800 number for 2 months, they claimed letter was returned undeliverable by the post office.

May 25th case transfered to California Service Center

June 5th case received by California Service Center

June 14th - Email that a Greencard was ordered (no interview)

June 17th - Welcome letter comes in the mail

June 19 2006 - Greencard arriives in the mail - WE ARE DONE!!!

Sept 2006 - Passed the road test

October 2006 - First job in U.S.

March 2008 - File I-751 - Biometrics taken

It means that the I-485 submission was successful.

The application will be concluded with an approval or denial after a personal interview (or waiver of).

Watch processing times for your District Office to get an estimate of when your interview might be scheduled.

I know that this doesn't necessarily mean my AOS will be approved, but does it at least mean I won't get an RFE?

Not really. They might send a RFE later on in the process if some of your documents get lost, or if some documents become outdated.

It means that an ASC (Applications Support Center) has time available to take your fingerprints and a photo, so that they can be passed on to the FBI to see what they (the FBI) know about you.
