Copying Yahoo I.M. chat archives, help !!

I have a good idea that im doing... and this is for the interview stage..

I downloaded for free on the internet a screen capture program...

you can capture the screen on your desktop and have your yahoo messenger up

and have a chat session up... then you print the screen.. this is beautiful because

just copy pasting them doesnt really prove it... anyone can type in a chat session

if they wanted to take the time... or maybe I missed something in printing chats.

but I like the screen capture.... Im going to do it also while she and I are on cam

and that would capture us both in chat....

No need to copy and paste is Yahoo IM. When you are done chatn before you close the chat box click on CONVERSATION then SAVE AS, then name the chat the date you chated and then it will be at the top of the page when you print it later. This way you will have the date for each chat on the top of each page which is good to show ongoing relationship. I created a folder before and just name it after my fiancee and then save all of our YM chats there. Then print 2 or 3 from each month just to show ongoing relationship. ( make sure to pick chats that show good topics)

First, for those reading this thread and do not know, make sure you archive all of your chats. If you are using Yahoo! IM, navigate the menus to Messenger --> Preferences --> Archive. Check the box that says "Yes, save all of my messages".

If using Windows XP, the archived chats will be stored in the folder C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\Profiles\<your Yahoo! ID>\Archive\Messages\<your Fiancee's Yahoo ID>. If you are using Vista, they will be stored in C:\Users\{WindowsUsername}\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\Profiles\<your Yahoo! ID>\Archive\Messages\<Fiancee's Yahoo!ID>.

If you are willing to spend $10, you can buy a program which will allow you to print out all of your archived chats at one time. I bought a copy of WackyB Yahoo! Messenger Archive Viewer and downloaded it instantly. It saved me a lot of time. Google it or email me for the URL.
