Salaam all,

Happy Wednesday!

We just got our NOA2 yesterday, woo-hoo!!! Alhumdulilah!

My question is: Should i tell my fiance to start gathering all his documents now (sijel al adili, chahadat al 3ozoba, etc...)? Or should we wait till we know the packet's been sent from NVC to Casa?

From what i've read here, i feel like Casa is hit or miss... it could take 1 month or like 6 months to get an interview. And then there's that 3 month thing... how the validity of notarized documents expires after three months... i'm worried if we get the documents now, what if we don't have an interview until goodness knows when?

Any advice?

Thanks!!

I would have everything gathered ASAP with the exception of what expires. Police report, medical, anything else? Sometimes the mail is pretty slow, and sometimes it just doesn't show up at all. It is worth it to not only send what you can soon, but have extra originals on hand just in case.

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

Id start compiling stuff now. Im not sure how much things have changed since last year, but we had one month to the day from NVC to Packet 3 and one month from that to his interview. IMO, if you wind up having a to wait a tad longer for the interview, the worst that happens is having to get a new BC, etc. Id rather have all the stuff together and have to wait a little while than not be ready on the big day.

Best wishes for an easy interview and a speedy visa in hand! :)

Thanks everybody for the help and advice!

Just a quick question: Does the birth certificate expire?

We got a bunch of legalized copies earlier when we were applying for his passport, etc... So we have translated copies already... Hmmm...

Thanks for all the support, too! We need it!

Hope all is well with you,

hz

From what I understand from my husband, yes, the BC is only good for 3 months. I never understood this. Its not like the information is going to change, but that seems to be the rule over there. I imagine its due to problems with fraud. Hubster had to get his BC on 3 different occasions during the whole visa process, but it seemed to be a simple task.

Damn!

I was hoping that we had at least that one small thing covered. I will tell Habibi...

I hope it's simple. He's got to travel all that way for the other documents anyway...

Thanks again!

Well someone else may have more recent experience than we and might pop in to correct me. Im kinda hoping that's the case, because I know it has to be a pain to travel all over the place just for one piece of paper. Ahmed had it easy because he lived in the same town all his life. He also was a mere hour's train ride from the consulate.

Hi Everybody,

Thanks so much for your responses. We will get a jumpstart on the papers.

I've been reading about this "AP thing" all morning, and it is very scary. I don't remember

reading about that when we were deciding what visa to apply for last spring...

Good luck to everyone!

Seems like we all need it,
