Well, Amed arrived on Friday! I drove up to Charlotte (3 hour drive) to get him. I arrived 25 minutes before his flight was scheduled to arrive, and I was walking into the terminal from the curb when someone pulled on my jacket. It was him! He had already arrived and retrieved his luggage!!! I don't know how that happened.

Anyway, it was sooo sweet to see him. We must have hugged for five minutes. He was tanner than usual, and had lost some weight (how jealous was I!), and it was so good to finally have him here!

We went to Carrabba's for dinner, and he dozed in the car on the way home. When we got there, he put all of his clothes away and showed me the presents he and his family sent for me and my parents! How sweet are they!

Saturday and Sunday we toured around town, and I showed him the city. He was amazed at how everything seemed bigger here, especially the cars. He thought it was weird that they wouldn't even let him into a bar without an ID, even though he is obviously over 21. He has LOVED the food so far, especially Mexican! It was hard for me to go to work on Monday, and he is feeling a little out of place, I think, since he can't really do anything during the day just yet. We are going to go job hunting this week and see if he can get some type of temporary thing going since he has his temp EAD. He really wants to work, and I think it'll make him feel better to be doing something while I'm at work.

I just wanted to keep everyone posted! I know a lot of people leave the boards when their SOs arrive, and I didn't want to be one of them.

We'll probably go to the SS office in a week or so to see about getting his card. I'll let you know how that goes!

 That's the difference between me and you. When Ali comes I will be at the airport like three hours before. I freak out like that. How cool was that to have someone tap you on the shoulder and it's him ? Hopefully he will adjust well ... keep us updated !

Congratulations! It's great that he's here now. We're only 2 hours away so if he's having a hard time adjusting maybe we can meet up some weekend and he and Abdel can be friends. Abdel has done pretty good making friends here but he does miss talking French and Arabic I think.
