Wow! It's been great reading these stories! Hopefully this will be an ongoing thread...

Stephen and I met at an online poker site (before the bastards in Congress made it illegal). They had a little section on there where members could post a picture and tell a little about themselves. They also had a "guestbook" where visitors to your page could post a comment. Stephen posted a ridiculous comment and I posted back in his guestbook. We started playing some games together (he kicked my ####### regularly) and after several months of growing closer via yahoo messenger and phone calls, we decided to meet up in person for a poker adventure in Tunica, Mississippi. It was a SPECTACULAR trip and what made it so great was... we barely found time to play much poker at all.

Now, two years later, he's here in Alabama from Northern Ireland and we're enjoying our life together very, very much. (L)

2007:

February - May: extended visit to States, engagement.

5/4: I-129F sent (Texas Service Center, forwarded to California Service Center)

5/11: Petition received at California Service Center.

5/16: Check cleared. NOA1 online (no hard copy received yet)

6/19: NOA1 hard copy arrived FINALLY

7/16: Sent off for Police Certificate (U.K.)

8/22: TOUCHED due to phone call (RFE Trick, was told case wasn't assigned yet)

9/20:APPROVED!!! After 127 days from NOA1 and 139 days from filing date.

10/23: Spoke to Kelly at NVC who said they should have received our petition by now. She advised I send a copy of our NOA2 directly to the NVC office, which I did immediately. :-)

10/26: NVC RECEIVES CASE!

10/30: NVC SENDS CASE TO LONDON CONSULATE

11/1: Consulate receives case in London AND sends out Packet 3.

11/6: Sent Packet 3 to Consulate (we'd downloaded the forms on VJ and had them completed already)

11/22: Appointment for Medical.

2008:

01/08: Interview scheduled for 10 a.m. APPROVED!!!

02/01/08: Stephen comes to America!!!

Great Thread!!!

Our story still makes me laugh......I shattered my knee in a really bad ski-racing accident in January 07, had to have emergency surgery and donated bone from an organ donor to rebuild the joint. needless to say, I did not walk for 4 months, and then very carefully for months after that! during the recovery I was so miserable and restless my girlfriends decided to cheer me up with a girls weekend to Las Vegas (we live in Seattle). They rented me a bright red disabled scooter to get around Vegas since I still couldn't walk. I bought my first hair extensions and the craziest shoes, hair and make-up I could find to try to look 'hot' on my scooter - I was just so damn excited to be getting out of bed! one night, while waiting for the handicap taxi to pick me and my scooter up to take us all to the next club we wanted to go to, I looked at out at the taxi cab line and there he was. We looked at each other, he walked over and asked me about my knee, I told him the whole story. When the handicap taxi showed up he rode in the back with my and my scooter. (his friends with my friends who were up front in the van unable to believe I managed to pick up a cute guy while in a disabled scooter) and we ended up talking and hanging out for the next 7 hours (dragging all of our friends with us) I knew that night I would marry him - as did he. 4 weeks later I left for london all on my own (walking with a cane) with just a belief that he was my life partner. we visited back and forth several times and then I basically moved to london while we waited for the Visa to come through. It did, we married in Feb 08 and now live happily in Seattle. It was just meant to be.....and before laying eyes on him, I NEVER believed in that sort thing!

Never say never!!!!

Short story? Met on a Sonic the Hedgehog message board :D

Long story? He'd been on there for a few years longer than I was. When I was a newbie, I thought he was a moderator. And I avoided all moderators for fear of saying something wrong and getting in trouble. We started talking maybe six months later due to a common interest in the band Rush. That was in early 2003, and we hooked up around the same time in 2005. The rest, as they say, is history. ^^

Longer story? Any entry in my Livejournal from October 2004 on. I won't make you read it, though. :3

Adam and I met during a year abroad in Germany, at a party. I came on my own and he was with a bunch of other English and American exchange students. I had been in Germany long enough to miss English, so I introduced myself to the group, and 3 hours later, we were the only ones left talking.

Then our best friends met at our wedding and have just moved in together after doing a 2 year long distance relationship.

I was playing in an online RP game with one of his friends, and she insisted I talk to him because we had so much in common. I resisted because.. so many 'set ups' are .. so wrong, but then he joined the game and we started talking., and she was so right. :)

Kris and I met through an online RP game about a year and a half or so ago. Started out as friends.... then began spending every day together both ingame and via emails. Became best friends and quickly realized how much we truly had in common with each other. He came out to visit last year for 6 weeks and we really knew at that point just how deep our feelings were. The rest as they say is history.

Sooo glad to see other gamers :D Jeremy and I met on a MUD (text based role-playing game) and I was the only English person there in a population of predominantly American, Thai and Australian players :) I was a bit of a novelty and had to learn to speak American because there were many things that weren't always understood

Jeremy seemed to be very mature - I thought he was a lot older than he was (he was 18 at the time and I was 19) and we hit it off... long complicated story ensues (check my website!) we got together, broke up, got back in touch, met in person, got back together and here we are :D

We met at Global Gathering 2005. It was total fate. out of 40,000 people we bumped into each other twice.

Evan was in the UK visiting a friend for 6 months, spent the last 2 months with me.

He went back to US October 2005 and came back April 2006 for the birth of our daughter June 2006 and wedding 4 weeks after her birth.

He is adopting my daughter from a previous relationship then we shall be returning to the US Early next year.

Its been a rollercoaster but we love each other more than ever and can't wait to settle in the US.

I met BMJ playing Everquest 2. At the time we were both attatched elsewhere I quit the gam (if you can call it that those that play MMO's know you never quit) due to the strain it was placing on my RL (real life) relationship, THat didnt work it all failed, I went back to Everquest 2 and Rebecca was still playing my old guild was still there I got back into the swing of playing again. BMJ took pity on me for being 10 levels behind the entire guild and tried to help me power level, I got bored or the "grind" (killing things endlessly to get a lvl) and quit once more this time heading to Lord of the Rings Online Beta program. Still keeping track of the Everquest 2 guild I used to troll their forum I noticed BMJ had placed a piccie of herself up and it was common concensus through my friends that Dang she was good looking, I also noticed she had quit the guild AND the game leaving an email that folks could reach her if they wanted to So I sent her an email to see how she was.

It was almost fate that she decided to turn on her mums PC and look at her emails espeically as she wasnt going to do so having made a clean break from the computer world. She read my email replied, saying she was AFK but would like to talk when she got home once more. a week passed, she was on Msn I was on Msn, I sent her a message it all started from there. we talked for hours and hours through MSN I finally got the courage to ask her for her phone number then we spent HOURS talking via the phone (and BT made sure they took their £ of flesh for that I can tell you... £90 for a 5 hour phone call) & the rest is History & we are now building a future together..

Im sure she remembers things slightly differnetly to me but heck It git us where we are today with the promise of good things to come.

Wishing I was there : Instead of Here

Wishing I was with the One I love : Instead of Here

Waiting Patiently Oh So patiently : For Everything to become Clear

I love how we are all dorks on here in some way or another :-D

You speak for yourself! :lol::P

My mom basically was like "who meets their husband/wife online?" Well, apparently lots of other people! She still buys into the old "anyone you meet online will kill you and put you in an oil barrel in a remote location."
