Alex and I met online on some forums - also terribly boring! (A more lengthy answer is in my profile).

I love the story, ginger! Now that's something interesting you definitely don't mind telling family and friends!

Pretty much all my friends saw it happen actually LOL. It's really something once you see you never can forget!

I'm not kidding you, poor Nicky had a flaming face.

That's the best story EVER! OMG!! That totally reminded me of my Cousin-in-law Jay's stag night!!!! Somebody ordered a round of flaming sambucas, and my uncle had never had one before. He didn't know what to do about the flame so he blew on it then drank. All of a sudden his moustache burst into flames and he spit the drink across the bar and then the bar burst into flames! Jay was yelling "Drop and roll, Jim! Drop and roll!" OMG, we HOWLED. post-21394-1199989369.gif Still do, really. In fact, I just did.

Amanda and I met in some random MSN chat room we both stumbled upon, we started talking because everyone else in there seemed a tad moronic (it was one of those teen chat rooms, oh god how I don't miss those!) we started talking on the phone, then lost touch for a few months.. randomly saw each other again and the rest as they say, is history

Amanda was not much of a gamer when we met, but I got her hooked on the likes of WoW after buying her a decent computer :)

Neil and I met in London, in 1986. He had come over on a student programme to study law and was working nights as a bartender in Chelsea. I went into the bar that night with my best friend- my grandfather had died that day and -this will sound horrible- but I went in to take my mind of it. (I was going to say celebrate...but..my grandfather had been very abusive physically and verbally to my monther, sister and me so yes, I was relieved and glad he was gone.)

Anyway. I saw him and called him over to order a drink but he came over and said he was actually on his way to mop the mens room floor because someone had thrown up in there. He did come back to see if we had our drinks, and we got talking. It was instant attraction, but more I found him really interesting to talk to, a good listener and he also made me laugh.

We met on March 10th, and were engaged by June 30th of 1986. But his visa then ran out and he had to go back to New York, after which a long and complicated engagement followed- we didn't get married until May 1991. His family didn't accept me for some years because I wasn't jewish -or american, they really wanted him to marry a nice jewish girl from New york and live locally! We put our wedding off in the hope of trying to win them over but realised it was going to happen. But then we had to postpone the wedding a 2nd time because I was in the Kings Cross Underground fire in November 1987. I was really ill afterwards and another lengthy seperation followed with me in England and him in New York.

In the end though, we triumphed (yes, it does feel like that!!) and we 'eloped' and got married in Washington DC in 1991. It was only when I had our first child in 1993 that i met his family for the first time, whith a grandchild there, they welcomed me into the family.

So, we have been married for over 16 years now. It has been a rocky road getting there but we feel like we can survive anything. having grown up abroad I've always wanted to live in the States, for the children to get to experience life there, but it has taken me a long time to persuade Neil to go. He's always loved living here because his job takes him to Europe alot; but he's looking forward to 'going home' now too.

That's our story! It's nice to hear other peoples. It does seem more common now to meet on line, both his brother and sister met their spouses on an american dating site!

I would be curious to see how many more I-129F's are filed now as opposed to 10 years ago, with the internet age and all. My paternal grandmother came over from England as a war-bride, so I imagine most of the I-129F's were filed by military in the past? Would be an interesting topic to do research on!

That would be interesting to see, Ginger. I've been curious about that myself, because other than military or school or trips abroad, it would have been difficult for so many people from around the world to meet.

Stu and I met online on some forums for general gaming. I thought he was one of those pervy gaming nerds at first and told him that I would avoid him, but you can see how that worked out. He's still a pervy gaming nerd though

Hmmm...if I weren't such a lazy ####### or perhaps still in school I'd do some serious research. And in the past few years too there has been a lot less stigma of meeting people online.

My favorite line in Revenge of the Nerds goes something along the lines of:

Hot sorority chick: I didn't think nerds would be so good in bed

Lewis: Jocks only think about sports, nerds only think about sex.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
