The past few weeks have been a headache and I can't wait for (knock on wood) another 2 and a half weeks until I can move and be with my husband(finally).

So, I called Kia Canada to get a letter of compliance to be able to drive my car in the US(yes Im taking my car, it's paid for and only 5 years old). To my suprise, they tell me that I have 2 outstanding recalls on it and need to have them done before getting the letter of compliance. So... frustrated that my dealership didn't let me know about the recalls, I call and make an appointment for 2 Tuesdays ago, which was my next day off at the time... I go to the dealership, takes about 3-4 hours and my car is ready. I ask, so everything is ok, they say yes.

The following day, a lady from Kia Canada calls telling me she can't print the letter because one of the recalls wasn't done. ####### ? I am pissed. She says the dealership didn't have the part and had to order it. Once again, in my head I tell myself, why didn't they tell me ? So I call them, and give em hell and they tell me they'll call as soon as they receive the part, which can take a few weeks (grrr). Two days later, the lady from Kia Canada calls me to tell me that my dealership is closing it's doors(forever) and that I need to go to another one... we figure out the closest one, and she says she'll place the call to get the part ordered and schedule an appointment. The new dealership never calls. I call and leave a message. They don't call back so I call Kia Canada who gets transfers me directly to them, and yay I finally can have my recall done this morning. Finally, all is right with the world! Well... not exactly. Coming home from running errands this afternoon, my car started acting weird... so I called them and took my car back to them(I was very pissed). Turns out my alternator died..... Anyways, it's fixed now, but grrr what bad luck I've been getting lately....

I still never got my interview letter. I have 3 emails confirming that my interview is Friday the 8th of February at 8:30. So I printed them, and made 2 copies of each which I will bring with me.

Now Im just trying to make sure I have all the right documents, and that they are all filled correctly.

I have

3 letters confirming interview date (no interview letter)

2 photographs of myself (passport pictures)

My medical examination sealed + the bill showing I had the exam

My passport, which is good until 2012

My Quebec birthday certificat + a certified translated English copy

Our marriage certificate (long form + short form, certified)

Police check stating I have no record

Expresspost envelop(314 X 394 mm) + Signature required sticker

My packet 3

including the DS-156 (not signed)

+ the email I sent MTL stating that my passport is in my maiden name but that my married name is stated on the Observations page

I-130 package

I-129f package

2 copies of everything

My husband will be bringing

- The affidavid of support (I-134)

- 131$ USD

Are we missing anything ? Im starting to panic that we forgot something.

Also some last minute questions :

On the expresspost envelop, the destination address is obviously mine, but what about the expedition address... do I leave it blank, or write the Montreal US Consulate information ?

On the affidavit of support, question 10 states : I have submitted a visa petition(s) to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) on behalf of the following person(s). If none, state none.

For date submitted, do we write the date of the NOA1 for the I-130, for the I-129f, or simply the day we mailed the first petition(I-130) ??

Looking over the DS-156, I noticed I left #22(When do you intend to arrive to the US?) blank. Should I have wrote UNKNOWN ? Should I redo it even if I've submitted this form to Montreal already ? Should I write it in ink ?

Do I need to fill in #40 (Application prepared by :) if I filled it myself ? - On #39, I checked No (Since I did it myself)

*I haven't signed #41. I am correct when I say I need to do that at the interview only ?

Thanks for the help... I know a lot of people have told me not to stress, and Im trying I promise, but with the recent bad luck on not getting the interview letter and my car problems... It makes me scared that my thoughts are elsewhere and that Ive forgotten something important.

Relax, this is the year of the Cat. On the envelope for the address, the consulate will fill it out (they have a stamp for it). If you are concerned about blanks, ask at the consulate. I heard a few people doing this (in person, when we were there) so don't sweat it. For #40 you can leave blank. You can correct it right then and there at the consulate.

Oh no darling, it is about to become the Year of the RAT.

Quite apropos:

"A Rat Year is a time of hard work, activity, and renewal. This is a good year to begin a new job, get married, launch a product or make a fresh start. Ventures begun now may not yield fast returns, but opportunities will come for people who are well prepared and resourceful. The best way for you to succeed is to be patient, let things develop slowly, and make the most of every opening you can find."

SpiritAlight edits due to extreme lack of typing abilities. :)

I beg to differ, as does Al Stewart.

How annoying re your car. Everything will be fine, Catou. Sounds like you have everything you need. Can't help you with the Express Post questions.... I picked up my visa later that same day. :P Don't sweat the small stuff (re date submitted). It is not gonna make or break your case. Don't worry about leaving the space blank on the DS-156. If they want something in there, they'll have you fill it in at the interview. No, you don't need to fill in #40. Yes, you sign it in front of the officer so he/she can witness your signature.

You'll be fiiiiiiine, Catou. Relaaaaaaax. lol

All the very best Catou! I know you're stressing, but it looks like you have everything under control...paperwork looks good to me. The car stuff is awful. After all of this mess, they're going to give you a letter to take this beast across the border I hope. I will be away by the time you post about your approval, so I'll say congratulations now! :)
