According to their website, they do not require the I-864 for the K-3. They only need the I-134.

Once you get to the CR1/IR1 stage you'll need the I-864. ;)

Ok, thank you!

Now, is there a FAQ out there someone telling me what some of these questions mean on the form because I am sure they've been asked a million times here but doing a search for I-134 on the forums brings up nothing

For example, what is included in "Other personal property"? Should that include my 401K, HSA, Roth IRA? What else?

What does "cash surrender value" mean?

And if I check that I intend to make specific contributions to the support of my husband what's the best thing to put down for the second part of that question?

Thanks!

Ally

Yeah, and I have found that the "Guides" section of this site is a bit vague when it comes to the K3 forms & process. I found a book that I'm using as a guide: Fiance & Marriage Visas - A Couple's Guide to U.S. Immigration published by Nolo.

Regarding those lines on the I-134:

-Personal property means tangible assets like cars, jewelry, art, etc.

-Your IRA, etc should be listed under the "stocks, bonds, etc" section. The line about "on deposit in savings" is also referring to your checking or money market accounts.

-The "cash surrender value" is referring to the line above it - life insurance. Like if you have a policy worth $1 million with a cash surrender value of $200,000.

-The book I mentioned above says to mark "do not intend" on line 11 & put N/A on the lines below it as this form is used for other Visas as well and it is referring to temporary visitors or tourists. I have also seen on some of the replies here that people have marked "do intend" and have put something referring to providing "room & board and spending money" until the person is authorized to work. Since you're probably not going to have your husband on a set allowance that you give him weekly/monthly, I tend to think that marking it "do not intend" and putting "applying for permanent residency & work authorization" on the lines below might be a better option. That's how I'm filling ours out.

Hope this helps & it didn't confuse you too much! ;)
