Got a new job that doesn't allow VJ at work :( how dumb is that? I don't spend much time on the internet at home - but we're removing conditions now, so I've been back on. Not to mention Stewart's watching a dumb movie I don't want to watch so I'm in the other room.

How's NYC? Did you finally find a place to live?

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

A job that doesn't allow VJ!? Terrible! :)

Yep, we ended up shelling out the big bucks to live in Morningside Heights. It just seemed worth it. Now we're trying to decide whether to move to Queens or Chicago next year. We both are loving NYC, but not the cost of living.

*sigh* Sometimes I miss it up there. Jacksonville is NO NYC, that's for sure. I'll be around a little more now...especially in the removing conditions section :)

I'm off to bed - early morning! See you around alex, hope all is well!

No - but we were going to until I found this site.

Same here! I actually spent $50 to download some sample forms. They were of course the exact same forms that were available on VJ. Oh well, what's 50 bucks in the grand scheme of things?!

same here, we waisted a lot of money and TIME for a lawyer who new nothing and he made mistakes got RFEs corrected it and asked for extra money for the time he spent correcting HIS OWN mistakes

so be really carefull if you still think you need one make shure that someone recommendet this person to you otherwise don't

we used a lawyer that hubby picked out of the yellow pages :P.... the lawyer was a total waste of time and money...

he got us a bunch of RFE's because he didn't seem to know what he was doing and I constantly had to keep correcting him....

if you are going to use a lawyer I would highly suggest that you get a lawyer that knows what they are doing.....

My SO and I haven't been using an attorney, so our answer would be "no" at the moment. Should anything unusual occur (and that would be highly unlikely, given that our case doesn't seem that unusual), then we may opt for legal representation.

One thing I would like to say is that my family things we're nuts for not using a lawyer. My father and grandparents specifically feel that an immigration attorney would "speed' up the entire process since they would know the "ins and outs" of the system better than any of us. So when I tell them that, at best, an immigration lawyer could look over our forms and send them in for us, they really don't seem to believe us. Of course, they also have trouble understanding why my SO would even need to go through the process at all.

Most of my family were under the impression that my husband automatically became a citizen once he went through POE until I had to correct them.

We did not use lawyer because we feel our case was straightforward. We already found VJ at the time & that's how we came up with the decision of not using lawyer.

The only thing we did not know was the consulate in Jakarta. Getting tourist visa is difficult there so we thought immigrant visa would be too - which was incorrect :)

We used an attorney because i was born in Guatemala and became citizen in the usa because of adoption and when i apply for loans for school my ss number always pops up as alien.....and i have to show my passport to prove im usa citizen so we felt it was best to get an attorney involved in case of a problem,,,,,,, but it seems i get more help on this form than i get from my attorney..........if i had to do it over again i would NOT use an attorney....
