We're trying to figure this out. When Jena went for her biometrics for her green card it was in Indianapolis, Ind. Now, we want to make an infopass appointment to get a I-551 since they made a spelling error on her green card and they try to send us to Chicago. We cancelled the appointment to give us time to think about this. I don't want to drive to downtown Chicago, Indy was so easy.

Why did they switch us and is there a way to get them to schedule us in Indy again? I know Indy does infopass appointments, I checked the webpage. What if we just put in the zipcode for the Indy office at the start of the infopass process? hmmm.....?

The ASC (where you got your fingerprinting done) is not the same thing as a local office. If you want to go to the Indianapolis local office, you can try to put in an Indianapolis zip code.

If your local office truly is Chicago (based on your zipcode) you may want to update your timeline so its accurate)

Can you tell me what ASC stands for? Alien Service Center maybe? How do you determine what your local office is? I just assumed (silly me) that since Jena was sent to Indianapolis for her biometrics that was our local office. It's also about an hour closer to us than Chicago.

Florida's local office is in a different location than the biometrics office also. Here is where you find your local field office for Illinois.

Application Support Centre. They help out the district offices with fingerprinting and such. Infopass appointments go to the district office, as far as I can tell.

Biometrics can be taken at smaller offices, some are even located in strip malls. But anything in connection with the I-551 you have to go where they actually have immigration officers that take appointments that you can speak with.

My husband had his biometrics in a Chicago suburb that was closer to our home. But for interview or infopass it was downtown Chicago office that dealt with it only.

If you do decide to do the infopass in Chicago, my recommendation is to schedule it early in the morning, like 9-10am. Because you'll be taken more closer to your scheduled time. As the day progresses they get backlogged, and the delays are long. Once I had a 2pm infopass and it was 3:30 and had to leave cause I had to get back to work and couldnt sit there any longer and wait.

The problem for us with Chicago is that we're over 3 hours away and all we drive is a pick up truck. They aren't even allowed on some streets near downtown. We might have to rent a car or take the train. If we take the train we can't get there early in the morning.

Indianapolis takes info pass appoinments. I put in the zip for Indy and it gave us the Indy office. I didn't make the appointment though. Indianapolis office is only about 1/2 the distance than the Chicago office.

Not sure how huge & big your pick up truck is. But they let everything besides semi trucks on downtown streets in Chicago.

If your able to get the Infopass for Indy, do it, and your done with the problem.
