Medical Exam

Hi All,

My Ira has her interview on March 17, and unfortunately I won't be able to be in Russia during that time. Rather than having her make two trips into Moscow while I'm gone - one for the exam, the other for the interview - I thought that we could make an appointment for the medical exam before I leave, and she could take the results with her later.

How long are the results good for? I was under the impression that they were good for a year, but Ira asked me to check with y'all first. :P

Anyway - any advice? Also, how long does it take to get an appointment? Is there a waiting period?

Thanks!

Z

The results are good for a year in terms of applying for benefits like AOS or a visa. However, most clinics won't let you make an appointment more than a few weeks in advance of your interview. We tried.

We were going to do it 2 months in advance before we had an appointment, but the logistics didn't work out quite right.

Instead, we wound up making a special trip to Moscow to do it 3 weeks before the interview.

Best advice would be to do it after you have the case #, since they really are supposed to write that on their report form.

Thanks for the replies above. I appreciate the info.

I have a second question, if I may -- Ira's interested in knowing what things the exam will be checking for. She's a bit paranoid about doctors, and is stressing this thing. Could some of you share your (or your fiancee's) experience getting the exam?

Thanks!

Take a look through this thread.

I've also posted a review of our experience with the medical later in the same thread.

I'm sure there are some other reviews if you look around.

Hello Z,

I just wanted to comment that my fiancee will also be interviewing in Moscow on March 17 too. Good luck with your fiancee's interview.

Take care

Bob
