I'm a little unclear on poverty guidelines, but he earns $60k per year, so he shouldn't need to declare savings etc right? Then as proof if he gets a letter from his employer, some print outs from online banking, and pay stubs this should be ok?

Poverty guidelines are based on your income and how many people are in the family, however, unless you have a whole bunch of kids, you should be fine. He'll want the letter from his employwer (details are on that site, but I think it has to include yearly income, date of hire, and whether it's full time/part time and it has to be on company letterhead), the recent pay stubs, and the letter from the bank (on-line print-outs won't work...it has to be an actual letter from a manager stating the total deposits for the year, the current balance, and when the account was opened).

Thanks. That's really helpful, I dont think he even knows how to contact his bank since he's had the account since he was in the Marine Corps..

For me.. i think i'll stick with the paystubs, company letter and the tax forms I already have. Don't want to deal w/ the bank to be honest. My gross pay is more than enough for my household and him.

Likewise, I have 4 years of tax transcripts, will get a letter from my company and provide paystubs. I don't want to deal with the bank either!

I don't think Toby wants to deal with the bank either, maybe tax transcipts would be an easier option. Should he already have them or will he need to request them?

I went ahead and ordered the transcripts from the IRS. They are free and take about 7-10 business days to get in the mail. I waited until I filed 2007 taxes though to request them.

If you qualify on earnings - don't go overboard and provide a lot of needless documentation. Go with what the guides say - Tax forms (transcripts), letter from your employer, pay stubs leading up to the interview. 4 years is probably overkill also - three years is fine. Make it easy for them to see what they need to see, so they can then move on to the next form.

And So It Begins......

30 Jan 2008 Touched - filing box here we come....

05 Feb 2008 Hard Copy NOA1 Received in Mail

03 Jun 2008 NOA2

Also, I recommend checking with the embassy website for the country you will be. That will give you the specific information that particular embassy is looking for.

I have my fingers crossed for you!

Hopefully someone over there at VSC is in a good mood cause I saw someone else got their NOA2 today also.

Now our plans have to change big time, but I am trying to see this as a blessing in disguise lol

My fiance hasn't even had that much time to save up a good chunk of money since he got back home at the end of January. This is crazy, I can barely wrap my head around it lol

I know how that is. I put aside a good chunk of my tax refund just for the visa and getting Kris out here.

Yeah I've got a nice bit of mine saved too. I want Rob here ASAP but now we have to just talk about what is the best way to do it...if it would be better to have him come here as soon as he gets the visa (assuming he does get approved) or since he's got 6 months to come here if it would be better for him to stay there and work a little longer.
