I think the white woman got burnt LOL

Exactly.

So it's ok to throw around offensive stereotypes as long as you're teaching someone a lesson?

It's my impression that he was just being coy to make a point....stereotypes suck all around.

I don't think it takes that much cleverness to stoop to the level of the person you're debating. The whole thing was offensive and not funny in the least to me. I understand what he was trying to do, but it fell flat IMO.

With no offense, I think the black man had a good point

I don't think you can say, "with no offense." It's offensive to white women, just as the woman's comments were offensive to black women.

Exactly!

I think I can pick out most of the black members in this thread by their responses. That's not a good thing.

Ignorance plus ignorance = morons.

It's very interesting that some of the stereotypical adjectives applied to Black women by the White woman (overweight, bossy, materialistic, etc. etc. etc.) are often applied to White American women by some White men to justify their preference for East and Southeast Asian(and sometimes Latina, Russian, etc.) women.

Just an observation.

Without going into detail, because I will not spread the venom of hatred spewed at me from stupid people, I will say as a white woman in a relationship with a black man, I have seen my share of stares, comments, and hatred directed towards my husband and myself. It has come from black women, black men, white women, and white men.....American and Jamaican. IMO, all of it is due to the person's own insecurities and imbedded stereotypes.

None of it is warrented nor well received.

Even if I was faced with such an offensive letter, I would not respond as either of these two. I have had people write and say stuff just as offensive. I walk away. I am secure in myself and my relationship.

My husband and I have had the same thing happen to us. He's even had a couple of his co-workers ask him why he fools with a white women. What makes me giggle inside is that my great grandparents were black, so technically he is with a black women. :star: Anyway, in this day of age I'm completely sick of sterotypes. I just wish everyone would grow up. There are worse things to complain about ya know?

Good point.

Obviously I'm in the minority here, but the guy's response was humorous...offensive yes, but humorous and he was being sarcastic, IMO, as opposed to the woman who was being quite serious.

That's probably because they're surrounded by overweight, bossy and materialistic women. Like attracts like, after all!

The problem comes in then applying your experiences to an entire country full of people. Okay, so you've dated 8-9 similar people. That's still only 8-9 out of 175 million (to take the US population). It can also be to do with the type that you attract. I've noticed that there are many similarities between the men that I've attracted (fortunately, it's a type I like, but equally, it could not be).

It's silly and offensive. I have a fantastic circle of female friends who are all the loveliest, sweetest people you could possibly imagine! None of them are overweight, or bossy, or materialistic, although these are all stereotypes I've heard applied to Western women in general. If/when they marry they'll make fantastic wives. It's also offensive to these men's sisters and mothers, too - or do they hate their female family members, too? I'm sure some of them don't (although sometimes it's their mothers/sisters who caused all their problems in the first place!)

Yeah. I feel like most members joined their posses pretty early on. Then there are some people in the middle wondering what the hell is going on. They're the tricky ones.

I'm trying to see just how you are able to tell that the guy was just being sarcastic, as opposed to actually believing what he wrote...maybe my sarcasm filter is broken, or I'm just obtuse, but I've heard plenty of the sort of things he says from actual black racists.
