Why do idiots always get the interviews? VJ'ers could provide some useful interview material.

Because the smart people have better things to do than stick around and provide "interview material" in order to feel self-important.

In college, I was told that black people can not, by definition, be racist. So the argument is moot. Of course he's not being racist. He's just being a tard.

I love that idea -- it's so twisted, only a college professor could spout it off. I've always thought that racism, by definition, was the act of employing discriminatory practices to the point of exclusion, restriction or preference based on race, color, descent, or national/ethnic origin. So yes, racism can be perpetrated against African Americans; however, it can also happen to anyone else as well, since everyone could fit into at least one of those categories. African Americans could (and have) discriminated against others and will most likely continue to do so, since they are human.

IMO the entire article was offensive, and filled with silly stereotyping.

The white lady started it all... And i believe she got what she wanted even more than she asked for

So, it's okay to spew racist bull$#it if someone else did it first? I just want to be sure I understand the rules

Yes, I think it's okay to sometimes match someone's overt offensiveness by reflecting it right back on them like a mirror if the intention is to point out the absurdity of it all. Context comes into play as well...the intended audience was the readers of that magazine.

Well, it's nice to know that "two wrongs make a right."

I'm in total agreement with you DeadPool !!! Well said.

The argument went as follows: only people with power can be racist. White people (in this country) have the power, so only they can be racist. The idea basically hinges on differentiating between bias without consequence and bias with consequence; it defines only the latter as racism.

I buy the argument. What I don't buy is the argument that black people don't have power. They certainly do - this isn't the 1920s.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

Can I slap the both of them? :)

I agree. Idiots!

I think the white woman got burnt LOL

The white woman was an idiot before the black man wrote back. Once the black man wrote back, we had two idiots instead of one.

Exactly.

Exactly.

So it's ok to throw around offensive stereotypes as long as you're teaching someone a lesson?

It's my impression that he was just being coy to make a point....stereotypes suck all around.

I don't think it takes that much cleverness to stoop to the level of the person you're debating. The whole thing was offensive and not funny in the least to me. I understand what he was trying to do, but it fell flat IMO.

With no offense, I think the black man had a good point

What point did he have? Throwing back more stereotypes is not making a point.

Yah, I have been told that too. I think that statement is the biggest load of BS! Call it what you want, it's one and the same.

Ha Ha! This is funny. Its an old article that came out YEARS ago. Well as a Black woman, I can say that I have dated the whole United Nations of races and ethnicities so I never saw the issue of Black women not being in cross-racial relationships.

I think the guy in the article was being as crude as the original woman was...so in that case he made his point. Both points were a tad extreme but I gotta say that the comments and reasons he made about why Black men choose to date white women.....I've heard that alot...from Black men. Now nothing is ever 100% final so I am sure there are just as many cases of Black men dating outside there race for legitimate and loving realtionships, but the comment he made is also a reason why Black men date other races. Truth hurts, yes, but it still doesn't take away that its the truth.

And sometimes "the truth" is just a bunch of regurgitated stereotypical rumors that fly because no one can come up with a genuine idea of their own. Don't perpetuate this stuff by spreading the hate.

Sorry, that definition is simply self-serving and wrong. Racism is a matter of the heart; it isn't about whether or not you have power, but what you would do if you did have it.

Without going into detail, because I will not spread the venom of hatred spewed at me from stupid people, I will say as a white woman in a relationship with a black man, I have seen my share of stares, comments, and hatred directed towards my husband and myself. It has come from black women, black men, white women, and white men.....American and Jamaican. IMO, all of it is due to the person's own insecurities and imbedded stereotypes.

None of it is warrented nor well received.

Even if I was faced with such an offensive letter, I would not respond as either of these two. I have had people write and say stuff just as offensive. I walk away. I am secure in myself and my relationship.

Fact? What constitutes a fact? Because one person believes something? A consensus?

That's no fun. Bring on the hate!

People who think and write things like that are not worth my time or energies.

They can show their face. I am keeping a smile on mine!
