SSN delay-AOS

I called the Social Security office to find out the status of my fiancee's SS application. The problem was that we went too soon and her name wasn't listed on the computer. So it can take up to 4 weeks to process that information (so far this is week 1) Should we still go ahead and send out the AOS forms, I-485, I-131 and I-765 without any SS for her?

No need to have her SS when you send in the AOS forms -- we didn't have my husband's when we filed and it didn't cause a problem at all.

Wow, normally it only takes two weeks to get into the system once the beneficiary arrives. You can file the AOS anytime. The issue with the SSN is how close the I-94 is to expiring.

Did you contact the office where she applied or the SSA 800#? If you called the 800#, that's a waste of time. Best thing is to go into the office.

Did you contact the office where she applied or the SSA 800#? If you called the 800#, that's a waste of time. Best thing is to go into the office.

Now I know what you mean! this guys suck when it comes to talking to a damn computer who can't understand anything you say, so I kept saying "help" about 10 times! until I got to a person and still had nothing for me.
