I don't think this incident says anything about the muslim religion or the environment they come from. It tells us what we already know, there are some people in this world that are cruel and in a mob situation people who wouldn't normally behave in a certain way can be influenced to do so.

Of course not, nothing evil done by any Muslim or by any government of a Muslim country says anything about the religion or the person's environment. No true Muslim would do these things or teach anyone to do them, and all true Muslim teachers publicly condemn such evil.
