the above post didn't indicate that anyone from san fran was going there to be raped, did it ever cross your mind that perhaps they'd want to go there because there are people of similar sexual inclination? i see you still have them selective reading glasses on alex.....

I dunno what it is about all these "outrage" threads about muslims and muslim countries - there seems to be a surge and swell. I guess its back "in fashion" now.

What bothers me more is seeing people make light out of things like this. We wouldn't be doing it if the victim were a woman (and of course it would be yet more ammunition for folks to say how barbaric they are), so why is it ok here? Surely its a hideous crime, no matter who the victim is.

Not to mention of course that this isn't exactly a crime that's specific or unique to Pakistan, regardless of the stated religious views of the perpetrators.

Well, it is only a fraction of people who distort the religion for their own means. The majority of Muslims ARE peaceful. If you look back into the murky past of Christianity you'll find your fair share of murder and ethnic cleansing going on in the name of God there too.

Charles, that was obviously implied in my post. You're saying that someone would read about a rape, an act of violence that has little to do with actual sexual orientation, and go "oh, those rapists are the same sexual orientation as I am. Why, I'll book a ticket." Which of course, is completely unfunny. You can't cover for your unfunny joke by pretending I didn't understand it. Anyway, Mags has asked that these jokes stop, I see.
