Hello my fellow Vj'ers..

I'm here again asking for help but this time i am doing this for a friend of mine who has a K1 application and K2 for her son. She's an unwed mom so she was confused what she's going to put under her son's ds 157 regarding the father's name.Does she has to put the name of the father even if they are not married or she will just put it N/A or None?

Please, any advice and response to this will be highly appreciated..

Thanks and Good Luck to everyone!

write down whatever is reflected on the child's birth certificate as they would always cross reference the ds157 with the BC--the information should always be consistent.

N/A is not appropriate -- the question is applicable.

None is not appropriate except in the case of immaculate conception.

I can only see 2 possible answers.

1) The name of the father -- if known.

2) "Unknown" -- if she doesn't know who the father is.

sorry, but I have to disagree based on my own experience. I agree with mikeandlani to list the father's name if it is on the birth certificate. If there is no father listed on the birth cetificate, it is not necessary to put it on the DS-157. there is a third option, leave it blank. that's what we did. not one question was asked about the biological father by the CO.
