Hello..my fiances interview is coming up soon, we have a significant age gap between us, I am worried he will be denied for that reason...Has anyone experienced this before???was it the deciding factor of approval or denial...can I expect the officer to give him a hard time...I have an ocean of butterflies stirring...we love each other why should age matter?

You didn't specify the exact age gap, but since you stated that it is 'significant', it might raise some red flags at USCIS.

I'm sure there are others here that have been in a similar situation and who will be able to give you more precise information, however, I believe that as long as you can provide plenty of evidence that you have a bona-fide relationship it shouldn't be a problem.

Since you did not reveal your age gap, I can only offer this... I know people with 25 year age gaps that have passed with no raising of any eye brows. The proof is in the evidence of relationship, not the age of the principles.

You'll never see "age gap" or anything like it used as a reason for denial. Large age gaps can bring additional scrutiny of the relationship bona fides. Many denials are for lack of evidence of a bona fide ongoing relationship, so it would be better to focus on how you are going to state your case.

On that score, you need only be old enough to legally marry in the intended jurisdiction.

19 and 23 are not big age differences. Nobody's going to hassle you.

I dont know ur age difference but in our case there is eleven years difference.....we didnt feel it was an issue (hope we were right about that) but we addressed the age difference in our letters we wrote for the application ourself.....we had talked to an attorney about it and the attorney did not seem to think it was a problem he stated that you only are required to be of legal age to marry and free to marry........im sure there are people on here that know alot more than i do about this topic but i wanted to let u know what the attorney had told us about it

Age has not been an issue if the proof is convincing.

To the young one's question....you should be fine. There are been other very young couples who have goen through just fine.

We had a large age difference and didn't have any problems what so ever. Just make sure all your paperwork is in order

A year or so ago there was an issue with a member who was much older than her fiance. I think she ended up moving to his country

The big issue here is you are going thru Casa and yes it becomes a issue there (but it is never noted as such) hopefully your original application is full of evidence because that is about all they will look at. Also hopefully you have more than one trip included also as i think this becomes a issue also, kinda the to much to fast idea Casa is like no other to compare to so just be well prepared at the interview because we know they are going to pick it apart be ready for the questions on age. Others have sailed thru with similar cases then others have not. Good lUck
