While it is shocking and tragic, I'd be cautious about drawing any conclusion about the youth in America vs. any other country. There may very well be some differences here (diet, lack of exercise, social and economic factors), but there's a possibility that this kid is just messed up. Sometimes there are no logical answers why things like this happen.

Agreed. I've seen some pretty f-d up things committed by young people, much of it outside America.

It's simple really it is the mind set of the PC crowd that we must be afraid to damage johnnies fragile little psyche and so he must be allowed to do anything that comes into his mind and not suffer any consquences. So parents cannot disipline without repercussions so they don't, schools cannot disipline and so no one can learn. Moral absolutes are not allowed because someone might become offended if they don't think the same.

Funny isn't back in the day when I was a youngster I knew my place as did everyone else my age. Talk back to an adult I don't think so. Even contemplate the thought of attacking an adult, are you nuts? It's called respect and in children respect is driven not given. I know I am not PC and very out of trend, but I do know that when understand the authority of adults and the adults have no fear to fairly enforce that authority things go a lot beter for everyone.

Exactly. That's why youth crime wasn't invented until hippie parents came along.

Damn hippies...

We're really not that different than other humans on the planet... just given the level of law and order its amazing how sick of a desensitized society we've become.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

What is this "PC crowd" of which you speak? Is this the new label to bandy around instead of trying to work out what's actually going wrong in society? Come on, there is no such thing and not all parents let little 'Johnny' run amok, not even a majority. There are ethical standards practiced all the time in family, schools and wider society even if one can't say a christian's morals are more important than say a muslim's, if that is what you are referring to with your moral abolutes. Sadly, I think this is some code for, "bring back corporal punishment" as if that's some kind of cure all solution.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Yes there is. It's not the majority but it does exist. Pretending it doesn't exist doesn't make it so.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

There's a "PC crowd"? I am sure there are people who hold some opinions that some could argue are dictated by policitcal correctness but to say there is an identifiable "crowd" of people who live their lives purely on politically correct lines is a bit of a leap and to use it to characterise what is wrong with society is simply facile.

So what you're saying is, if your parents hadn't made sure you knew your place, you might have killed your family? Is that how "simple" it is?

1. So we are arguing over the use of the word 'crowd'? You're right. There is no one 'crowd' that travels the country in a pack and passes judgment on people.

2. Who says purely? I thought the left was all about shades of gray... man.

Why can't we use the word 'retarded' anymore? How did this word become taboo?
