It made sense for me.

I worked in an all-male environment.

I had no place to go that put me in intimate contact with desirable women who were interested.

I joined gyms, went to bars, joined church groups. At my best, I am not a particularly funny, flirtatious or attractive guy. I do have an excellent job and a great education. Those dates I did get were burdened by multiple kids, nasty ex husbands or boyfriends, were immoral or lacked compassion and empathy, or had been burned badly and often enough that they basically were unable to trust anyone anymore.

One thing about joining gyms and book clubs or whatever: if you are not really into it, you are at the wrong place, because you are meeting people who ARE into it. Great way to meet people who don't share a value.

My story is much like yours. I also tried a lot of non-international dating sitres, as well as local dating services like "It's Just Lunch". BTW, my real estate agent just told me she met her hubby on match.com.

Since I've married my wife, I've met a lot of husbands of friends of my wife. When we start talking, I often find we have a lot in common.

I looked exclusively online because I don't go to school any more ; hate going to bars; I knew no one at work, I cared about, that was available; all my friends were married and knew no single ladies; I don't go to a church; on and on. There was no where to look, that I cared for, but online. I didn't start out looking for a Russian lady. I have nothing against women from anywhere. It just ended up that way.

I don't see a problem in looking online. I think that's lost the stigma it had in the late 90s/early 00s. But did you use a marriage broker? I think that's what most people object to. Men who say, "I'd like a Filipina. I will pay 20 dollars to meet Filipinas who have indicated they would like to marry an American."

Now Alex, that $20 is an INVESTMENT in a real honest marriage.

Its NOT weird to go online looking for ppl to meet and talk to and BOOM you met your love, however to go online and specificlly look for your soulmate, right down to country of origin, then its weird.

I'd disagree. If, for whatever reason, you think that Filipinos float your boat, the Phillipines would be a good place to look. And tho I wouldn't have said I was looking for a 'soulmate', I was old enough to know I was looking for more than a casual relationship when I was on 'dating' websites.

Are American men scared of American women?

who said they were?

No one said anything, but that doesn't keep me from asking.

Are you?

You're not playing the game right. You're supposed to break into tears and confess.

Actually, hubby thought all Brits had bad teeth too, it is one of those sweeping generalisations that are often made. :D Don't know why, Brits have pretty good teeth as a rule - we just don't have as many famous faces with veneers and stuff making their teeth all look identical.

And I've only seen a couple of really big people in our town here in the Mid West, the rest are pretty normal in size.
