I have found that in America, sometimes women think that treating their men with the same common courtesy they would give a stranger is some kind of surrender, that they are being submissive.

Eh, well, I have dated a few American men who were absolute dicks, but I didn't come to the conclusion to write them all off and search abroad. I just broke up with them and figured, eh, more fish in the sea.

Yeah, some of my friends thought I gave up on American women too easily. I didn't really write off all American women, but I wasn't having any luck either. Lotta fish but not too many bites.

Face it, American women aren't as marriage-minded as women in other countries. For a lot of them, career is enough, and that's fine if that's what they want. When I met my wife, she told me up front, "if you like to drink and hang out in bars with your friends, if you like to fool around with other women, if you're not interested in marriage and children, if you can't commit your life to me and our family, I'm not interested". I really liked that. :)

you can't go and search for a soul-mate

one can at the bunny ranch.

OMG......I'm only going to admit this once. I think "Bunny Ranch: the musical" is the funniest thing I have ever seen!

I don't why anyone is trying to tell anyone else what kind of marriage/partner would suit them. There is no formula, you have to work out your own deal. So, A thinks they don't want to marry someone from Y but might like someone from Z. Sure, it seems goofy to some people, and offensive to others but really it doesn't matter it's not about what the offended party might want/like. As long as the people in the deal are happy about it, that's all there is.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Can't we discuss it? I think we all know that at the end of the day nothing that anyone says on here has any effect on our lives. We make the choices we want to make and that's that. But we all *do* have opinions.

Discuss away, I just think it's a pointless exercise :P

I think it is probably pretty pointless to discuss what is the best anything as far as meeting a "soulmate". 100 different people will have 100 different answers for you.

Well, yes, pointeless can be good. Actually, my husband had to send me pointy sticks because of my predeliction for the use of 'point' at every turn...as it were. Or was it something to do with Python? I can't remember now, but I will ask.

For one, age difference is very rarely as big....and not very many, if any, IMB used there.

Hmm. . . so it's an age thing that makes it troubling in some cases. Reminds me of the Microsoft trophy wives I saw at the gym when I lived on Mercer Island, WA in the 90's. For that matter, one person's IMB, is the next person's yahoo personals, or match.com.

Hmmm. We have some new friends, a Phil-Am couple, she is 23, he is 22. I wonder if that would bother anyone.
