Who cares what anyone else thinks about how one met anyway? It's not like somehow that's going to damage the relationship...unless it's all fragile anyway.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Check out the film Two Brothers & A Bride. It is based on the real site loveme.com aka "A Foreign Affair". The film is half documentary half comedy. It does a good job of displaying how some men go to these "socials" and fish from the bowl. The film is actually quite good. Has David Arquette & Emily Mortimer in key roles.

I remember watching this show once on MTV where men would go to Russia on some sort of package vacation to specifically find a bride. Everything is planned out - the girls are ready to mingle - and they have to just show up to all these different scheduled social events where they start to make their picks and then narrow them down as the week goes on.

I wonder if anyone here did something like that.

Jeffery AND Alla.

That's what my neighbor did, with the Ukrainian women.

He just met them once at a social and married them?

I will! It's kind of like The Bachelor: Russia.

I think this: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=108489 is what reinforces the stereotypes and prejudices...

Ya, there's plenty of that going on. While I'm sure the majority of the Russian women are probably genuine, it appears that they may also have the best scammers and opportunists too.

Soooooo.... just to clarify.... what motivations for joining a web site for meeting American men would you consider "genuine"?

Just wanting to find a good, faithful, American husband who will commit to a lifetime marriage (and usually children too). I know some of you (especially the women) find that hard to believe, and I did too. I was always thinking, no way, how can it be that simple? If you spent some time in one of "those countries", or with my wife and her gaggle of friends, you would get it.

In all honesty I find difficult to believe that all American men are more emotionally stable than their foreign equivalents.

Keep in mind that perception and reality aren't always the same.
