Your parents say:

You can have the wedding of your DREAMS...any detail you want, done...

or

You can elope and we'll give you 10,000 dollars (average cost of a wedding these days).

With the first option you get NO money. Which would you choose

DITTO! I can't imagine NOT taking the money. But again, I was never the "princess" kind of bride. It's a lot of work and money for ONE day...my friend spent 3000 on a photographer?!?!?! I was in shock.

Take the money....and since it's our money, plan our own nice party for a fraction of the cost and still have plenty left over to do a lot of other things we want to...

I'd take the cash. Sheesh, that's a down payment on your starter house.

Ewen and I might be one step up from a pizza-and-beer wedding reception...then again, we might not be!

You can be a princess inexpensively!:yes::yes:

My parents gave my husband and I a car since we eloped. They're still going to chip in for a very cheap reception though.

Go for the money and have all your friends and family over for a picnic in the park.

I love the idea of a "picnic" reception. :)

Definitely the money! My wedding was no where near $10 000 but it was prefect! We had sandwiches(Subway catered the sandwhiches), salads, veggies and dip, cheese and crackers, fruit... all from wal mart. Was sooo good. Honestly, why pay butt loads of money for asparagus soup?

money!

So why would the parents be willing to spend a fortune on a one day party, but only fork over 10K in cash? :P

Mine will be a dollar store wedding, cuz I have no money. Pizza and beer may as well be champagne and roses! (ok, I'm kidding a little bit.)
