I feel like I've actually accomplished something!

I understood Wadi talking on the phone earlier. He said saba wa sabeen , and I asked him afterwards why he said "77". He was pretty impressed!

:D

Thanks for the list Layla. I copied it to my computer into a word file, but the Arabic didn't come out right - it's just boxes. I guess the Arabic fonts aren't on my computer. My kid's dad works for Microsoft and sent them the office suite we use, but the last disk was missing. Guess that's where the Arabic fonts were.

Hmmm... you have to actually install it but I don't think you have to have the disk to do it.... Let me figure out how to attach the instructions here and I will inshallah. (F)

That link can show you how to set up your PC for Arabic if you understand all that technical stuff.

http://www.freearabicfonts.com/free_arabic...anguage=english

That link has a lot of free Arabic fonts... you just download it and save it to your PC and then copy the font to your "Fonts" folder in Control Panel.

I don't have MSWord so I can't really tell you how it works but I know that when I set up Arabic on my PC (all programs) I did not need my disk. I use something called ArabicEditor which is similar to Word but supports both English and Arabic at the same time. I love it and the full version only costed me around $30.

You can find that here http://www.summitsoft.co.uk/ they will let you download a free version to sample it but it doesn't have all the letters so it will bug you to death until you buy it

Lis,

There are a couple of things you can try without installing the fonts.

You could take a screen snapshot and print it as a .jpg or other type of graphic file.

If you copied into a non-Word file, such as an Outlook, you go to VIEW at the top, go to Character Encoding and then try Arabic (Windows). It is the same thing if you come to an Arabic webpage that displays all goofy - just change the settings in the browser under View and Character Encoding.

Thanks guys, I'll mess with this after finals to see what I can do. I do have PDF writer on my computer so maybe I'll just PDF the screen with that on it.

I tried selecting the Arabic fonts in word, but they weren't loaded, which is why I know they are on that disk. I do know I want to have that capability on my computer because when I get out of school I do plan on learning Arabic and French.
