contacting us embassy in cairo...

hello fellow VJers

I hope everyone is doing well inshAllah and having a wonderful weekend! i know most of us have heard about the cable/phone/internet line that got damaged this past week, affecting the majority of Egypt and other countries...but my question is...has anyone been able to contact the US embassy in Cairo through e-mail (and received a reply) or phone??? I keep sending them emails but I am not getting any responses so any help would be appreciated was the embassy effected by this...so there would be a lack of communication...that would be horrible...but inshAllah all will be well take care and thanks!

I just got a reply today to my email sent a few days ago on Tuesday. Yes they are able to email now...not sure about phones.

I received an auto reply from them on January 28th or 29th that they were closed, but I haven't received anything after the problem with the internet cables.

They'll get to it eventually.

I've had good luck with them so far answering my emails promply. Usually within 24-48 hours..except this one.

Sometimes they answer promptly and sometimes they are slower. But there are times they never answer. Depends on what you ask. Most of the time they answered me quickly. However right before I got my Inerview date I had sent around three asking them about why it was taking so long and they never replied to those. They did not even give email notice of the interview date or that the packet 4 was mailed. I found out by calling the Visa Center. Anyway, nothing is ever consistent in Cairo except that they are always inconsistent. LoooooooL Good Luck!! Take Care.

I gave up writing them 'cause I swear they just copy and paste their answer to me. lol. Good luck and I hope you hear good news soon dillydally!!!!

..i guess you got your answer already...but i'm pretty sure they'd have internet connection...my husband's dsl was working fine today ( :dance: alhamdulillah!!! :dance: ) lol.....so i'm sure the embassy is fine...

they are inconsistent...sometimes they'd reply the next day and other times, they'd completely ignore the email....i think you can contact them by phone....i don't think there's anything wrong with the phone lines....i'm not sure of the number...but i know their hours are 1-4 every day except friday...

I just emailed them. It wasn't a nice email either so I probably just sealed our fate. I'm sick of this bull#@@$!!

I emailed them 2 weeks ago and yesterday I fired off another.....still, no answer and the email was very short and sweet and I only asked them one simple question. :wacko:

we just got an email yesterday too. Be patient sometimes it took as long as 3 weeks for a e-mail response. Depends on the question and on how many hands they have available to help.
