Nice. I'm barely getting started myself and so far it doesn't look promising.

I'm scared to get started...

It's pretty bad when your mortgage interest deduction is countered by your wifes employers not withholding enough from her paychecks. Good thing I withheld an extra $2400 for FIT in 2007 or else I'd be deep in the red.

Hi guys. We're doing our taxes with TurboTax. In August, we moved from Minnesota to New York. We already did the Minnesota state forms, but now that we're doing New York, it keeps adding in the money we made in Minnesota as well to that. Is that correct? Is there some reason for this?

Thanks,

Alex

Usually it should credit the taxes paid in MN at the end of the process. You may have to make up the difference if NY has a higher rate (MA does this).

This year I'm filing non-resident NY and part year resident MA... I moved to WA and there is no state income tax. woot!

That is awesome! I did my taxes yesterday and was amazed that I will be getting back from the state. First time ever!

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."
