Hello everyone!!! I was wondering if anyone knew the procedure on getting a police clearance? My fiance lives in the Philippines and we wanted to know if she should go to the U.S. Embassy there and get her police clearance. We filed for a K1/ I129F on Nov. 19 2007. We want to have everything in order so when these things are needed we can have them taken care of. Here it is Feb 2 2008 and our paperwork hasn't even been touched. Anyone with some insite on this we could use the advise. Thankyou to all, and God Bless! Glenn and Cathy

You usually have to get Police clearance in the Philippines from city hall / municipal hall. It's not hard to do. Just go to closest city/municipal hall where your fiance is. I got mine from Quezon City hall as i live in QC. Will only take a few mins of filling up forms and picture and paying the fee. Not big of a hassle. I hope this helps..

lol i got it from the city hall too when i applied for a job back then in CDO...

but anyways regarding with this post, why does she need for a police clearance? is it for the visa process? coz i dont think she needs one for it. but she needs NBI clearance... police clearance is only for those who have gone and worked abroad (more than 6 months i think) and that they have to have a police clearance from the country they've worked to and they can ask for it at their embassy in phil.

Glad to hear you and ur fiance starting to gather all the documents..You can get the police clearance in municipal hall where ur fiance live..no need to go to US embassy,..it will take only few hours to get it..make sure she have baranggay clearance because i think that's one of the requirement getting police clearance..sometimes, USEM don't ask for police clearance as long as your fiance have NBI..NBI is more important than police clearance, but i suggest get both..u file in Vermont, it should not take long..just be patient right now because vermont already approving a lot of october filers..my case got touched one time only after 2 days of receipt notice then I got approved..don't worry about touches!right now, gather all the documents and get it ready so when yours got approved, you no need to rush for ur documents to be completed..you always get benefit if you are the kind of person who does not wasted time..for me, every second counts so that's why, I am cardiac nurse :lol:

Very true, the USEM wont ask for her Police Clearance and as far as the NBI is concern, in my place , the NBI didn't even ask for my Police Clearance when I applied for an NBI Clearance but hey, no harm in getting a Local Police Clearance if that will give your fiancee peace of mind, just follow the advice given here on where to get it. Make sure she gets a Barangay Clearance first, its a requirement to get a Local Police Clearance.

Goodluck!!
