The interview started on time (within 2 minutes!) and was a breeze. He had a big folder of all our submitted documents, and it was apparent he had taken some time to familiarize himself with everything before seeing us. Not intimately familiar, but he knew the big picture. He asked where I work, and I said I'm a student. (I'd been laid off some time ago and decided to change careers.) Right away he said oh that's right, but you have a lot of money. (ha ha! not a lot, but enough under the guidelines!) All I said was here's my '05 tax return, showing more than the minimum income. And showed him letters from the school and an employment letter where I had just started working part time in my new career (radiography). He said oh good, and placed these in the stack with barely a glance. This all happened in less time than it takes to read this paragraph.

That was the (potentially) hardest part, and it was a breeze. More time was spent looking at photo's of us together here in the USA. The only thing he seemed to check closely was Elya's medical, to make sure she had her vaccinations. In fact he didn't even ask for the medical per se, he asked if she had her vaccinations and we said yes and handed him the sealed medical envelope.

That's about all there is to tell. Except, we are very happy! But then, we've been very happy ever since we met! (L)

Quick question if I may, you mentioned that you handed the CO your medical information in the envelope, did you not send this with the original package? Sorry it has got me confused somewhat.

Janice

No, they send you a letter (I-797C) notifying you of the interview date and time, and with a list of items you must bring. The medical exam is one of those items. I guess it is possible to send it with prior documents. The exact wording on the I-797C we received is:

"A completed medical examination (form I-693) and vaccination supplement in a sealed envelope (unless already submitted)."

Actually Elvira had all exams and vaccinations completed in Russia before coming here. In the interview we got the impression we would have been okay with that. It was all very official, with stamps and translations. Would have saved us some money, that's for sure! But as I said the interview was very fast, we didn't ask, so will never know for sure. The clinic here did tell us they are very strict on going by what a civil surgeon (not just any doctor) provides on their form. Whatever.

Any questions of this kind I would defer to the pinned info here on VisaJourney. Especially the checklists. That's exactly what I did and it worked great!

Good luck!
