Hi,

Firstly, i have just registered but have been looking on this site for a while and i wanted to thank you all for the information that you have available here. Its soo helpful and encouraging to know that we are not the only ones in this situation!

Anyway my questions for now-

1) should i refer to my country of citizenship as United Kingdom or Great Britain (this one alway stumps me at immigration!)

I ask because I would use United kingdom but in my passport under 'Nationality' it says 'British citizen'

2) When should none and n/a be used. Do all the boxes have to be filled??

Many thanks,

J&C

Hi there!

Welcome to VJ. You should always use UK as your country of citizenship, it fits nicely in the boxes too!

You should put none when it asks for something you dont have like an A# number or something like that. The best thing to do when filling out the forms is to use the example forms on this website. This fills them out exactly the way you should and it helped me out a great deal. Good Luck.

I've always put UK on the forms. My understanding is that 'Great Britain' refers to Wales, England, and Scotland only, whereas 'United Kingdom' includes Northern Ireland. Is that correct?

I put n/a for things like a social security number (which my fiance obviously doesn't have yet), or just drew a line through the box if it referred to text (the middle name field, for example-- he doesn't have one.)

I always use UK for govt type forms - really Id prefer to use ENGLAND (Im English not United Kingdomish) but hey ho we do what we must.

Oddly the auto online form for packet 3 has us down as 'great britain and Northern ireland' while the USCIS website has us as 'United Kingdom' on the drop down menus.

Go figure

Hi

I just sent my I-129F petition in today! My fiance is also from England. UK is what I used. Don't worry, I got myself so stressed doing the petition. This website is so helpful and also USCIS.gov is good to. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Where in England is your fiance from? abby

Technically, "UK" or "United Kingdom" really should be expressed as "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland". As was mentioned before, "Great Britain" is Scotland, Wales and England.

Jaylen had an interesting idea, but "England" is not a passport issuing authority, just like Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland aren't. That's why she can't put "England"!! :D I suppose if they ever get around to issuing Scottish, Welsh, Northern Irish and English passports, then she can go and get an English one and come back here and change her profile.:lol:

Best of luck,
